Over 40 award winning wineries are within 20 minutes drive, explore caves, Indian Grinding Rock, Daffodil hill, Bear River Reservoir, Silver Lake, Jackson Rancheria, historic Sutter Creek and just one hour to Kirkwood. This hilltop property is perfectly positioned to take in nature offering acres of private wooded land. The home overlooks a deep canyon and the endless views of El Dorado National Forest. The deck has a shade sail and string lights for "anytime" relaxing. The front of the home has a landscaped porch that takes you out to the enormous fire circle with solar lights and extra large adirondack chairs. You will notice many different pathways lit by solar lights high up in the trees. Explore the many winding trails that lead you to campsites and an outdoor shower. Pitch a tent, roast marshmallows or just hike through, this property has options! Inside the home, it is bright and cheery with interesting oddities and mature plants for fresh air and living art. Kitchen is well stocked with new appliances, XL refrigerator and eat-in as well as spacious dining table for feasting on local cuisine. Each bedroom has its own flavor, with emphasis on the comfort of the beds, especially the linens as a good nights sleep is absolutely imperative when you are guest of my space. You will have fluffy towels and lots of them, if you forgot anything, I have drawer full of must-haves for you to take just in case. You will have a well stocked wood stove for heating and air conditioning to keep cool. Free firewood and lots of it for the outdoor fire pits! Great for the whole family as well as romantic getaway. I welcome all and have put my heart into the space where you can be yourself, explore the world with fresh eyes, a rested body and notice all the beauty surrounding you….and make some memories!! The property is expansive and it’s 5 acres is a gentle slope, easy access with shorts hikes. The long driveway itself can be a good-morning workout on its own- Feel free to explore the neighborhood keeping in mind the private property lines and watch out for low brush especially when you leave the property. I am diligent about keeping poison oak at bay, but it is rampant once you leave the property. Please Note: The property is offered on Hipcamp and strictly limited to the sites on the far side of the property, except for the communal fire circle. The occasional Hipcampers keep great outdoors glowing in the evenings with campfire quartets and morning meditations. I have found Hipcamp nature lovers bring another layer of enjoyment and a reminder of just how special this property is. *Keep in mind that you have full run of the property at all times, but that those camping are only permitted on the areas outside of the acre surrounding the home unless you give permission. This has never been an issue, more than not, people enjoy the social aspect and leave with new like-minded friends. *All Hipcamp reservations will be noted and you will never have any visitors that are not accounted for. Please keep gate closed and secured at all times. It is NOT your responsibility to direct, assist or interfere with any Hipcamp guests. The mission of Hipcamp is to leave the space better than you found it. I live and work out of my art studio in San Francisco part time and work on art projects on the property part time as well. It’s a high priority for me to give space and complete privacy to the home and surrounding areas. I want you to have ownership over the space you are renting out and do not believe that my presence is appropriate unless otherwise stated/requested. Since I have vintage Airstreams and other projects on the property, you might receive communication from me informing you that I will be working in my “renovation area” but generally like to save that for when the home is vacant. I will be giving you your space and although I have safety precautions in place if you have an emergency, I am available to be reached at anytime but am most likely in San Francisco. Interaction is minimal unless otherwise requested. Thanks! This area requires a car but the neighborhood and it’s few miles of roads can be biked. I offer parking and can accommodate up to three cars for your stay. If you plan on having guests or have more cars coming to stay, let me know and I can direct you to the appropriate parking areas. Otherwise, you will notice a sign that says, “Parking” California Hideaway is currently offered as an AirBnB as well as a Hipcamp property and although we maintain lots of privacy, it’s not uncommon to meet like minded folks looking to escape the noise and rejuvenate up here for a bit of R&R. We offer communal campfire circles that are meant to be a “meeting of minds” for those interested in being social and we also offer space that is strictly for your enjoyment only. The trails are shared and there is an outdoor shower with outhouse located a small hike away from the house that is shared by anyone staying on the property. Although the property has many shared trails and other outdoor amenities, your entire space, about an acre surrounding the home is exclusively yours as well as a general priority including privacy that belongs to your party. If for any reason at all you prefer not to be social and would appreciate a privacy border to be maintained during your visit ( this is a rule in general and is up to you about how much you want to participate) please give me a heads up so I can be on alert and make appropriate recommendations. Lastly, I am an artist and the property provides a space for my larger projects to be available to me to jump into at anytime as well as keep a creative environment for ideas to emerge. This means that my current obsession with vintage Airstreams is apart of the landscape and I ask for your understanding regarding any eyesores from the process of renovating a 1954 Flying Cloud and 1964 Overlander. They are also friends with my 1973 Traveleze and my sweetheart of a camper, my 13’ 1960 Kenskill. So, hopefully this is somewhat interesting to you, if not, I apologize in advance and ask that you are cautious when walking in my “renovation area.” I hope you have an incredible stay that gives you a reset like a breath of fresh air and gives your eyes freedom for miles while connecting you with dear Mother Nature.
