Description

Beautiful large airy bedroom in a modern farmhouse with a shower room and 55" smart 4K ULTRA OLED HD HDR TV. Brand new renovation. Lots of light, love and sunshine throughout entire house. The house contains all that you could wish for. There is a large, pretty patio garden with seating. Host is warm, kind, fun loving, joyful and easy going. Pets welcome. Peaceful countryside setting only 8 minutes from Haywards Heath, 20 minutes from Brighton and 45 minutes from London. The space Once an old granary back in the 1850s this building was home to livestock and grains. Huge cart loads of grains would be pulled by big Shire horses through a great big archway which now forms the area of the front door. The barn was originally converted into a house by my Dad back in 1989 using all the original bricks and oak. Full of original character and charm this peaceful home will allow you to relax and rebalance your scattered senses. Relax in the patio garden with its' delicate scent of fresh roses and honeysuckle in the summer or snuggle up on the sofa with the original, limited edition Franklin Inglenook wood burner in the winter. Whatever the season, you are in for a special experience. I will consider pets staying too because I know how important they are, but please send me a message first and provide me with details. Love, thought and detail has gone into every inch of my lovely home and it can be felt throughout. It has been equipped with luxurious, high-end furniture, furnishings and appliances. There is a 65” HD smart TV in the lounge and a 55” HD smart TV in the master bedroom. Whilst this home does contain all the mod cons that make life more pleasurable and easier (high speed blender, juicer, food processor, microwave, dishwasher etc.) what makes this place truly special and unique, is its' natural beauty and character. Full of charm, this peaceful, warm and cosy ambience has not been purchased but has been lovingly made with my own hands with hard work, lots of thought, endless hours and energy. The beautiful pine table was handmade by my Dad and I using big rafters that he took from the roof of a victorian building. The oak beams that form the archways are from the original barn and are hundreds of years old. The oak beam that features in the fireplace was the original tie beam that came from the roof of the original granary barn. I had all of the oak sandblasted and together my Dad and I sanded it, waxed it and made beautiful shelves, window sills and thresholds which feature in every room. In the garden my Dad used the oak beams to make a beautiful flower border and a log shed. My Nan taught me to use her sewing machine and together we made curtains, cushion covers and crochet blankets. Wander outside and meet the menagerie! You will likely befriend some dear, very tame chickens and that we rescued this year. Meet the four humble turkeys: Arthur, Christmas, Tinkerbell and Phoebe - we saved them from being Christmas dinner this year. The birds all now enjoy life and spend their days making dust baths and eating! They are ever so friendly and love a stroke and being nattered to but keep doors and gates shut, otherwise they will follow you in and make themselves at home and redesign the garden beds! One managed to sneak indoors recently and laid an egg on the sofa! There are friendly geese wandering about too but they are kept fenced in, mainly because of the mess they make! If you would like to rehome an animal, there are ones that my Nan crocheted and knitted that you can purchase, all the money goes to charity. They make lovely gifts. Two old retired ponies, Tabby and Honey, live in the field. They will probably wander up to the gate to see you. Watch your fingers if you give them some carrots! Guest access You will be surrounded by natural beauty. Beautiful country walks are at your doorstep. Some of the country's most beautiful villages are in Sussex. The fairytale villages boast historic stone cottages, cobbled streets and ancient castles and are surrounded by some of the most wonderful English scenery. Only a 10 minute walk away sits one of the prettiest villages of them all - Lindfield - which is well known for its quintessentially English appearance. The village was banned from entering a competition called the 'Best Kept Village in Sussex.’ It won the competition so often that it was decided to give other places in Sussex a chance to win. With rural landscape, historic homes and a pretty duck pond, this area within West Sussex is not to be missed. There are houses from many different periods in this Sussex village: medieval cottages, Georgian manor houses and detached arts and crafts-style properties. Lindfield was named one of the best places to live in the UK by 'The Times' calling it a "dream escape to the country”. There is a high street bustling with locals, lined with pretty boutiques and plenty of coffee shops. There is a Grade II listed church called All Saints which sits on top of the hill and dates back to the 11th century. The duck pond is a particular highlight within the West Sussex countryside. The ducks have two small brick islands on which to nest and locals are fundraising to build a floating duck house for the lucky animals. Visit the Bent Arms, a cosy pub, or join in the fun at the Stand Up Inn. Locals love to play toad in the hole - a pastime that involves throwing pennies into a lead-covered box with a hole in it. There are a number of other delicious options including: The Snowdrop (in Walstead), The Witch Inn, The Limes (serving renowned Thai food), That's Amore (Italian) and Tamasha, a contemporary curry house which has live tribute music once a month. Other nearby award-winning pubs and restaurants are: The Rose & Crown (Horsted Keynes); The Coach and Horses (Danehill); The Cat Inn (West Hoathly). In the morning, if you wish to buy local produce, visit Cottenham’s butchers or Paul’s greengrocers. The best and oldest bakery in the South East is only an 8 minute drive away in Ardingly. Fellow is family run bakery and began in the 1880s and here you will find artisan bread, hot savoury pies and the most delicious cakes plus local honey, jam, marmalades etc. Five minutes from Lindfield is Haywards Heath town where you will find banks, supermarkets (Waitrose, M&S, Sainsburys) and many shops and eating places. The railway station provides a direct line to London. Take a train to London Bridge (44 minutes), to London Victoria (45 minutes), to Brighton (14 minutes), to Gatwick Airport (11 minutes). The beautiful south coast beaches are just a 30 minute drive away and the 100 mile long South Downs Way are only a 20 minute drive away. Try the coffee and cake or the hot sausage rolls at the lovely converted horse box up on the Downs at the Jack and Jill Windmills or one of the lovely country pubs. One of my favourites is the Black Horse in Nuthurst (25 minutes drive). Visit Crabtree, a tiny hamlet near Horsham. It is home to only a handful of people yet it has some of the finest dining in Sussex. It is fortunate enough to have not one but two Michelin restaurants. Crabtree is perhaps most famous for its namesake pub, The Crabtree, which attracts people from all over the county. Nestled deep inside the historic woodland is another top restaurant - Interlude. You can explore the High Weald - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - one of the best surviving medieval landscapes in Northern Europe. Mysterious ancient woodland and fern-clad streams; intriguing timber-framed buildings; sunken lanes created by Saxon drovers and Tudor iron masters; and the South East's largest heathland Ashdown Forest. The 1461 square kilometre area covers parts of Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Four National Trust locations are nearby: Sheffield Park, Wakehurst, Nymans and Standen. There are many local attractions including: the Bluebell Railway (which still runs a vintage steam trains throughout the area); the Bluebell Vineyard, Glyndebourne Opera House, Borde Hill Gardens, the South of England Showground, Hickstead Showground. You may like to visit the famous roots of Winnie-The-Pooh in the quaint village of Hartfield. Other things to note Free off-road parking.
