Echo Base @ Echo Lake

Let Echo Base @ Echo Lake be your base camp for Northern Michigan adventure and relaxation. Adventure awaits whether you plan to raft down the Sturgeon River or travel just 40 min. north to Mackinaw City to catch a ferry to Mackinac Island. Petoskey & Boyne Mtn are only 30-35 mins. away. Golfing, biking, hiking, snowmobiling and skiing are all nearby. Or, relax and enjoy some quiet time across the street at the lake. No-motor Echo Lake is the perfect spot for your favorite water activities. The space Enchanting Echo Base has an open floor plan with plenty of natural light. The cottage has two bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, full kitchen, dining area, living room and laundry room. An additional playroom/gameroom, "Lightning Bug Lodge", is located in front of the garage and is available for use in late spring, summer and early fall (it is not heated). This room, detached from the main cottage, is perfect for a children's play space, yoga or a rousing game night. Cross the road (look for the blue post) and take a short walk down the quiet, dead end street to the wooded trail which leads to the private lake lot (about a 3 minute walk from the cottage). Four Kayaks and a paddleboat are available for guest use, as well as a picnic table. There is a small sandy beach area but most of the lakeshore is protected waterfront.There is a fire pit behind the cottage and another at the lake property. **Please note** The lake is across the street and down the road, about a 3 minute walk from the cottage. It is a private lake access for Echo Base only, not a public beach. NEW - high speed internet installed 2024. There is no TV but you can stream your favorite shows if you bring a laptop. There is NO Air Conditioning The well water has a distinctive taste so bottled water is recommended. Guest access Guests have access to Echo Base, Lightning Bug Lodge, and the lake lot. The lake lot is located across the street, look for the same blue post as the Echo Base driveway post. The lake is a short distance down a beautifully wooded trail. Garage and shed are owner's storage areas. Other things to note The cabin is not on the lake property. The lake is across the road and down a short, wooded trail. Guests may want to take some bottled water as the well water has a distictive taste. Some map programs direct you to the lake lot. The cottage is on the left of the road, the lake lot is on the right. There is a blue pole with a house number in front of the cottage. *NEW* High speed internet installed 2024. There is NO TV. Bring a laptop and you can stream your favorite shows, sporting events or movies. There is NO A/C. Echo Base is about 4 miles from Trail 7 - Main Snowmobile trail. You must ride dirt and paved roads to access. Find intersection of Trowbridge Rd and Lance Lake Rd on Google Maps, this is the closest entrance to the trails.
