Off Grid Retreat at Yarrahapinni

We are an Eco Retreat in the forest close to the beach, a wildlife loving surfer's perfect holiday accommodation. Access is via forest roads suitable for cars with higher clearance. The studio is run on a 12volt solar system. Upstairs is an open air (shadecloth rather than windows) loft with a deck. Downstairs is lounge, dining and indoor outdoor kitchen area. The middle level has an outdoor bath area, with compost toilet & gas fired shower. Shops & cafes 5ks. Pet friendly. The space It feels like wilderness as you drive through the forest to your accommodation but actually only 2.5 ks from the beach. We have created a very casual holiday place. We've used recycled materials, beautiful old bridge timbers & farm hardware. There is a minimum to clean & care for, so you can relax & appreciate how little things become precious, like the sounds of wildlife & the ocean & that tang of salt in the oxygen rich air. Recently we changed our listing to 2 nights minimum stay because so many guests expressed their wish they had stayed longer. It's a destination rather than an overnight stay. The shed studio is accessed via country dirt roads which are very private. We will send you a map with the directions. 2WD vehicles are ok, although high clearance is recommended on forest roads. An SUV is perfect for all weather. The studio is attached to a large farm shed which stores nursery equipment. We have partitioned half the shed to be a games room. BYO badmington or hopscotch, there is room for little kids bikes & a fence can be created to kennel your dogs. This space is accessed from the Studio or through big sliding doors to the outside. Our solar is 12 volt, not 240. This means that regular appliances won't work here & there are no power points. The lights are solar powered, the cooking gas powered. A small power bank is available to charge phones & computers. Phone reception is good, guests can hot spot off their phones to get internet reception. The studio is on the eastern side of our 30acre property, adjacent to Yarriabinni National Park & 20 minutes walk (5 minutes drive) to Grassy Head beach. It's a blessing to be able to walk out the door & onto unspoilt forest tracks to walk to the beach. The Shedstudio is on 3 levels. Downstairs is lounge, dining and open plan rustic cooking area. All kitchen equipment is provided. There is a double gas cooktop inside & a gas bbq outside. A small 12v fridge & freezer. For longer stays we leave a large esky. The sink outside the kitchen is used for washing up but you have to heat the water inside. The second level bathroom is connected to the shed by an outside walkway. It is two corrugated iron units. One is a compost toilet, which doesn't flush but in every other way is like a regular one. The other is a Smartek gas heated shower. Smartek also heats water at the bathroom sink. The upstairs loft of approximately 46 square metres is a divided into 3 rooms by roll up wooden Balinese privacy partitions. Bed configurations are one queen, with desk & clothes storage area, one queen with canvas curtain for those who don't like the breeze, & the third area has two single beds. All beds have mozzie nets. We can comfortably sleep 5 people in 2 queen beds & 2 single beds. Beds are made with sheets & pillows with blankets and doonas to suit your needs. Beds & pillows have protectors. Bath towels are also provided. The loft has shadecloth on 4 half sides, double glass sliding doors onto a deck. There are no windows upstairs, its glamping! The grounds around the shed are relatively flat and regularly mowed, there's heaps of parking & playing areas. Please understand to protect wildlife dogs are not permitted in the park but welcome to roam around the farm. Another consideration is the risk of fire. We have a small outside fire pit but put it away when the conditions are not suitable. It's exciting to be sharing our beautiful unspoilt environment with like minded people. Guest access Guests will have access to the studio via a well maintained dirt road. A SUV is the perfect vehicle to access the forest roads in any weather. It's a very private road, only used by people coming to our place. Your accommodation is the managers quarters at the front of a large farm shed. The front door will be unlocked when you arrived, a key will be on the inside of the door so you can lock it when you want. The shed itself has been cleared of clutter and partitioned so one half is a games room, extra space for you & yours to enjoy. The other half stores nursery equipment & farm machinery. There are no inflammable or dangerous chemicals stored in the shed. Other things to note The GAMES ROOM !! Weather can be unpredictable & as many of our guests are families with dogs staying for a week...we decided to open up the shed. We have partitioned off our workplace & storage area & opened half the shed for guests. Its is accessable from the studio. Extra space to rest and play. There is a table taniis table, bats & balls. Yoga equiptment. & books. Chalk for hopscotch or creative artworks on the concrete floor. Registration Details PID-STRA-55314
