Please request rate change before you book on Turo. I can’t do it retroactively. The house was built in the 1920's and is listed on the Historic Register. Back then the road was a simple boardwalk trail and stores in towns provided delivery with young men packing goods to the houses by wheelbarrow. Today the street is paved and fairly narrow. There are a few stairs to climb but the views are worth it. This is a private unit with private key pad entryway. I try to meet you on your arrival in Ketchikan and take you to the apartment and orient you to the town. After that I am available by phone or email if you need me. My space is located on a quiet dead end road in the historic district overlooking the Tongass Narrows. Most of my neighbors have lived here some 30 years or more and it’s an authentic way to absorb local Ketchikan. Life is lived on the street...pretty much the only flat space on the steep hillsides that make up old town’s core, where boardwalks and stairs have street names and provide a myriad of ways to explore backyards and homes perched above the water. There is a public bus stop about a two minute walk down the hill which offers service all around town, the hospital, schools and shopping. If you wish to add a car to your stay: I have a 2016 Smart Fortwo car available with the apartment. Pair your tiny home stay with a tiny car. Stay Smart! Parking is on the street. The street is a dead end and requires you be comfortable reversing a short way to the turn around. There is no assigned parking so you may have to walk a couple of car lengths from the house to your parking spot. The house is right at the end of the street accessed by a traditional boardwalk. There are 12 steps to get onto the boardwalk. In keeping with tiny spaces I have a Smart Fortwo car that can be rented for your stay. Not only can you park it in tiny places it’s a breeze to navigate the narrow residential roads that used to be boardwalks. The house is not a stand alone home. It’s an apartment that has been lovingly restored to function as a tiny living space.
