Gumnut Cottage

Only 10 minutes from Toowoomba, this off-grid studio cottage gives you an escape in the Australian bush with all the comforts of home. We are located across a tiny creek, up a 1km winding, gravel driveway where the cottage is semi-privately set into the bush. At night, you might see the wallabies munch and bandicoots dig, and if lucky, the possums may come down from the trees for a treat. During the day you may catch sight of a lace-monitor lizard which may come running for a treat. The space The cottage is open plan and has large glass doors that open to the bush surrounds. Guest access Parking is in front of the shed garage doors marked, "Visitor Parking". The 1km gravel driveway has some bumpy ruts from the weather which we are constantly working on. Other things to note As we are a little out of town and take-away delivery is not available, we offer some frozen meals. These are all home-made and frozen to keep them as fresh as possible and to give you both convenience and quality. All day breakfast for 2 - $15 - 4 chipolata sausages, 4 bacon rashers, 4 free-range eggs and 2 hash browns. Bread is free of charge in the cottage freezer. Quiche Lorraine – $7 - individual size bacon and cheese quiche in hand-made puff pastry shell. Quiche – $7 - individual size quiche layered with pumpkin, spinach and chicken in hand-made puff pastry shell. Meat Pies - $7 - Chunky beef filling topped with hand-made puff pastry. Beef Lasagna - $15 – Home-made lasagna with an addition of two slices of garlic bread to toast. Pumpkin soup - $10 – Made fresh from local vegetables, and is supplied with two slices of garlic bread. Just let us know what you would like and we can leave it in the cottage fridge before check-in, or can deliver at any time. Cash Payment is preferred. Firewood can be supplied at an additional cost of $25 per green shopping bag. Payment by cash. Gumnut Cottage uses rain water tanks and bottled gas instant hot water. If the hot water stops we will swap out the bottle. Please be considerate with the usage of water.
