Savor the smell of pine needles, morning birdsongs, and the serene scenery at the "Cabin on the Kettle!" The space Only an hour’s drive from Minneapolis, this location is great for a quiet getaway. Whether you’re looking for solitude, a couples retreat, family vacation, or bonding with a group of friends! Enjoy smores around the outdoor firepit, saunas, hiking, and exploring 25 acres of woods. You will catch a glimpse of wildlife - the question is which kind? We have seen deer, wood ducks, fox, ermine, rabbits, bald eagles, and grouse on the premises, to name a few. You will love watching the sunrise amidst the trees through a wall of eastward-facing windows, with a cup of coffee in hand while listening to the fire crackle in the fireplace. Hang out in the HUGE treehouse with a chair or hammock. Listen to the trees swaying on a windy day, and crack open that book or magazine you’ve been wanting to read. A spacious deck off the back of the cabin hangs over the hill with great views into the treetops and down towards a pond. If the bugs are out, retreat to the large screened porch and get comfortable on the outdoor sofa, and hanging chairs. Or savor a meal al fresco on a large picnic style table and benches. The meandering Kettle river borders the east end of the property, not visible from the cabin, and is about 1/4 mile hike through the woods via an established trail, which includes some elevation. Depending on the season & weather, the trail can be wet so we recommend bringing your hiking boots to explore. Also to note: there are about 5 exterior steps to enter the cabin, and the basement bedroom is only accessible via exterior/separate entrance. Guest access The entire cabin and 25 acres of woods is yours! Other things to note There are nearby attractions to enjoy. We love to hike trails at Banning State Park, which has huge ravines, waterfalls, and whitewater rapids. Robinson Park in Sandstone, a gorgeous park made from an old quarry, is a local favorite with rock climbers, hikers, or paddlers looking to get on the river. Only a 12 minutes drive from the cabin, and free to the public, we like to walk the trails and spy trains crossing the Kettle River over a towering railway bridge. The Grand Casino is about 7 minutes away. Hinckley and Sandstone are both within 10 minutes and are nice towns with a few restaurants, grocery stores & traditional main streets. We recommend Bear Creek Tavern for burgers or a drink, and if you have kids - Bear Creek Candy Store is a must-see with a huge selection of traditional candy favorites!
