Seaside Serenity is a unique 3-bedroom cottage situated on the private, historic Estate Cane Garden on St. Croix's South Shore. With acres of the former sugar cane fields to the north and the Caribbean Sea to the south, one can't help but feel relaxed with the mesmerizing view. A bonus to your stay is access to a natural, secluded beach with a sandy sea entry. The grocery store, cinema, gym, open-air Saturday market, Art Farm and downtown Christiansted are all within a 10-minute drive. Built in the '60s the cottage maintains some of its original charm along with modern remodeling. There are ceiling fans in every room, plus a/c in the two larger bedrooms. There is a tv and a dvd player. Apple TV is available if you have an account. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen, including a blender, griddle and waffle maker. You'll find beach towels and other necessities in the linen closet. Make yourself at home! The waterfront cottage boasts a 360 degree view of tropical beauty, including ruins of the sugar cane plantation dating back to 1784. A family lives at the great house and surrounding houses. Please be mindful of this and admire the ruins from a distance. (Guests should not roam freely through the historic entryway; that is not part of Seaside Serenity) A long staircase leads to the white sand beach just steps away from the cottage. There you can enjoy the waves and sun or hunt for turtle tracks in the sand and fossils in the massive rocks. While all of my guests are granted access to this beach, you will usually find yourself alone under the cabana! We live right next door and are available for questions throughout your stay. We would be happy to arrange a bike rental, suggest our favorite restaurants and offer guidance in planning a fun day. As you enter the lower gates of Cane Garden you are welcomed by ruins on the left and right. Estate Cane Garden is a private, well-preserved sugar plantation with several structures within view. It consists of 265 acres, on which several neighbors call their home. The St Croix Avian Sanctuary is right next door, so you may see birds walking around...and maybe even in the road! Please be mindful of this and drive on the dirt lane like you're on vacation in paradise with no rush at all. Renting a car is a MUST; we are happy to provide detailed directions from the airport, which is just 6 miles away. GPS directions do not work so well on St. Croix...yet. We are a short 10-minute drive from the grocery store, cinema, hospital, markets, restaurants and downtown Christiansted. Our friendly dogs, Lucy and Rudi, will likely stop over to visit and also greet you upon return from your daily excursion. Want provisions for your first meal in place before your arrival?
