Kracadawna Farm - Firefly

Kracadawna farm isn’t just another farm stay. Four decades ago, Juli and Vivek ditched the city life for good and moved to what was an abandoned patch of land, not too far from Mysore. They built this quaint stay from scratch over 40 years, figuring it all out as they were building. Today, the farm is home to an array of fruits, vegetables, grains, a gang of cows, chickens, goats, dogs and the lovely hosts - all managed by their son Azad who grew up on the farm. The space Though you will be staying in the middle of the forest, your home will be a snug cottage with 2 rooms that can host up to 4 guests in each. Everything you eat during your stay here is straight from the farm where they organically grow about 35 food crops. Check out the work that goes into organic cultivation and get inspired to set up your own kitchen garden. Learn how to make cheese and pair it with freshly harvested veggies for a refreshing meal. Guest access Once you’re done filling your tummy, doze off on the hammock but do it only if you can resist the aromas emanating from the kitchen. If you aren’t up for a nap, pick a novel from the family’s collection of books. The farm has no shortage of peaceful spots for you to read them. Azad will coordinate with you and ensure your experience here includes several activities like - - Walks beside an elephant corridor to spot birds - A dip in the Nugu river - A coracle ride - Riverside meals - Wildlife Safari in Kabini/Nagarhole park Things you can try at home after your visit: Transform your own clothes, after learning the art of indigo-dying with Juli! The sugar you consume here is farm-to-table, and you can be part of the jaggery-making process as well. Other things to note A few things for you to keep in mind - the farm has a minimum 2-night stay policy - which is the recommended amount of time to truly take this place in. Please note, there is no alcohol and smoking allowed on the premises.
