Get away from it all when you stay on the Farm! A rural Tennessee setting, where you will stay in the original 1945 farmhouse. There is no WiFi. Perfect country getaway or a base for exploring eastern Tennessee! No kids under 13, No pets, No smoking/vaping. Please read ALL the rules (found under “Policies and rules”) before requesting a booking. The space Getting back to the land, back to our farming roots from both sides of our heritage, was a goal for us both the entire time Paul was serving in the USMC during our marriage. My own goal was to have animals, including horses and chickens (as a bonus we also have ducks). Paul has the green thumb and was glad to find a place to retire, that had greenhouses and established fruit trees. Our goal was to eventually become at least somewhat self-sustaining, by growing our own food. We both saw a lot of potential with this 17-acre property. We welcome you to join us here on the farm, whether you just want to enjoy the setting from the comfort of the guesthouse, or if you want to participate with us in some farm chores, especially gathering fresh eggs that you can have for breakfast, or picking fruit in season. Watch the horses from your windows or use the peddle boat on the pond. Enjoy a walk around the 17 acre farm, or an evening fire at the fire pit. Watch the stars and fireflies on summer nights. Listen to the frogs at night. The horses we own are basically pasture ornaments. Needy, expensive pasture ornaments. We don’t ride them at this time, and we don’t offer horse riding here. Please do not enter any animal enclosure unless we are with you. If you want to access the pond, we will move the horses out of the field, but please do ask us to do that, rather than assuming that they aren’t in the field because you don’t see them. Please do not feed the horses ANYTHING, even grass growing on your side of the fence. We do have one horse with medical issues, and it is very important that we monitor what they get. Thank you for understanding. If you are interested in horse riding while you are in the area, we can point you towards a few options locally. The guesthouse you will be staying in was built in 1945 as the original farmhouse for what was at one time a working farm of more than 600 acres! There was a huge dairy barn, which sadly was torn down years before we bought this place. We still have the barn foundation, as well as numerous outbuildings, which you will see around the property. We do require that you not enter any outbuilding even if the door is open, without us being there and specifically inviting you inside. We would be happy to give you a tour (in fact we would LIKE to familiarize you with the farm and answer your questions). We can take two or three people around in the UTV, or we can usually give you a hay ride, if you arrange for that. Please understand that the tractor and/or trailer may be needed for necessary farm work, or even down for repairs, and may be unavailable for hay rides during your visit. If you would rather take a walking tour, that would be my husband’s department! He should be able to find the time during your visit to walk with you, and answer your questions. Guest access As a guest, you have access to the entire building. You have the use of the entire main floor, as well as the basement garage, and the washer/dryer located in the basement. We do have extra furniture stored in the basement, and we ask that you don't enter that area, and confine basement activities to parking and laundry. Other things to note Please do note our rules, particularly no pets, and no young children (teens permitted). Also please, no parking on the lawn. Please park in the driveway, either up by the sidewalk, or by the door to the garage, in the back. Thanks!
