Our trailer (named Wilma) is the perfect place for those seeking a comfortable nature get-away in Homer. Situated on the ridgeline, the trailer is privy to sweeping views of Cook Inlet & the Alaska Range. Magnificent sunsets can be enjoyed from the privacy of the covered deck. This clean, fully-outfitted trailer is a way to experience Alaska without pitching a tent or sacrificing luxury. Some call it 'glamping'. If you don't have a large budget or lofty expectations then this spot is for you! While this 18-foot, 1978 Wilderness camper trailer may be considered 'retro', it has been well-maintained and updated with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The trailer has a full kitchen, bathroom with a tub shower, eating/sitting area, closet, refrigerator, microwave, and heat. Adjoining the kitchen/sitting area is a double bed. The space is ideal for individuals or couples, though an extra person could be accommodated if you don't mind being cozy. There is an additional hide-away bed that pulls down above the double bed. This offers storage or a sleeping space for smaller people or children. Please note the overhead clearance is quite small in this space. The dining area could be converted to an alternate sleeping space to accommodate a larger adult. We provide french press coffee, tea, and creamer. The trailer is located in a private setting on our 5-acre property with drive-up parking. It is permanently parked beneath an overhead roof with a covered deck. There are deck chairs, lounge table, and a small propane BBQ for your use. We are located 1 mile from the Homestead hiking trail, 1.5 miles from the Diamond Creek trail/beach, and 5 miles from downtown Homer. My husband and I live onsite and may stop-by to check on your stay. We are avid outdoor recreators and would love to give you any local advice on your visit to Homer. The camper is located approximately 5 miles from downtown Homer. A car is recommended, as there are limited public transportation options in Homer. There are two local taxi companies that service the greater Homer area. The fee is $15-20 for transport from downtown Homer to the camper. Two things that may be different: 1. The toilet. While it is a standard water-flush toilet, it empties into a holding tank instead of the septic system. We manually empty the tank after guests. We have had no complaints or odors from guests, but it is important to note that this is an RV-style toilet. 2. The shower. The shower runs from a 6-gallon propane water heater. This should be sufficient capacity assuming no long, sauna-like showers.
