Description

Escape to our recently renovated off-grid cabins, offering cozy cabin vibes while providing all the amenities you need. A perfect relaxing getaway! Ideal for ATV, snowmobile & ADV riders in search of that "off the beaten path" stay, conveniently located a short distance from the NB Trail system. Nestled along the Miramichi River at Porcupine Brook and surrounded by lush forest. See guest access for important info. The space The Hideaway is a serene getaway offering 2 newly renovated cabins tucked away in the forest (you can also rent both cabins, look for The Hideaway rental). Adventure and nature enthusiasts will appreciate the natural setting that surrounds them. Wake up to the soothing sounds of the babbling brook and embrace the comfort and peace the forest provides. The interior of The Spruce features a thoughtfully designed open-concept living area, complete with a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove top, mini refrigerator/freezer and basic cooking essentials. The cozy living area features a wood stove, perfect for chilly evenings. The cabin comfortably accommodates 3 guests or perfect for a couple’s getaway! The loft bedroom offers 1 queen-sized bed and 1 twin-sized bed. The 2 cabins are conveniently connected by a large communal deck that offers a shared outdoor space for relaxation and socializing. A propane firepit is situated on the deck and is perfect for evening relaxation and wind down. A BBQ is provided and if you would like to use it, please ask for it to be set up prior to your arrival. *NEW* We’ve added a private deck to the north end of the spruce cabin offering a space where guests can be completely private and enjoy their own propane fire pit. Located just behind the communal deck is a custom built cedar outdoor shower equipped with hot water and bathing essentials (closed during cold temperatures / winter months). We do have a lower fire pit down at the river which is available to guests, however please note to access the river/fire pit/hammock you must walk down a somewhat steep dirt path, so reasonable mobility is essential. Guest access There are 2 parking areas available: Parking area 1: located 0.2 km down the laneway is for guests who do not have 4x4/AWD, ATV, snowmobile or for anyone towing trailers. Your host can accommodate transportation to the cabin if necessary between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. If you cannot check in before 6:00 pm please contact us at the time of booking. If you require transportation, we offer one trip in and one trip out (at check out). We do not provide transportation during your stay. Parking area 2: For guests with 4x4/AWD (not ideal for low profile cars) or ATV - can continue down the laneway to the cabins. Please note the laneway is a maintained bushroad and is rough in sections. I drive a Subaru crosstrek in and out multiple times a week. *Please note in the winter months the cabins are only accessible by snowmobile but transportation of luggage and gear is available between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Guests can snowshoe or walk the approx 1.5 km (we provide snowshoes)* Guests have access to the 750' of shoreline on the Miramichi River and the 2 km laneway for exploring the forest. we also have marked hiking/snowshoe trails throughout the forest (use at own risk). There is also a wood firepit down on the flats by the river that guests can enjoy. Other things to note The Spruce cabin is situated closely to our other rental cabin (The BIrch) and both cabins share a communal large deck (approx. 320 sq ft) and the cedar outdoor shower. However, The Spruce now has its own private deck. The owners (hosts) also live approximately 200' from the rental cabins. The cabins do offer privacy, but please note the above. The cabin is approximately 170 sq ft with a loft. The loft stairs are very steep, they are not a regular pitched staircase. Although steep, they are very comfortable to climb with large hand holds along the side and MUST be descended backwards similar to a ladder. If you have mobility issues, they will be difficult to climb and may not be suitable for your stay. We are off-grid! Each cabin runs off of solar and therefore are equipped with lights and electricity. The cabins are capable of running small appliances such as a laptop or charging your phone. Our system cannot handle any larger appliances such as toasters, hairdryers or straighteners etc... please do not use these items. There is only cold water in the cabin (the outdoor shower has hot water) however a large kettle is provided to heat water. Wifi can be spotty in the cabins but can be accessed on the deck/porch. The property surrounding the cabins is forest! It is not manicured, It is uneven ground and steep in areas, so guests are asked to wear proper footwear and use caution when walking around. Please be mindful you are in wilderness. Animals live here too, so please do not leave any food out on the deck or open in the cabins. Make sure the cover is always put back on the BBQ once finished with it. ATV/Snowmobile: The Hideaway is conveniently located a short distance from the main NB Trail system. Follow a short trail that brings you to Storeytown Road and The Hideaway laneway. We are a perfect stop for anyone seeking an off the beaten path experience. Fishing: our 750' of waterfront property has riparian rights with a fishing pool known as 'Porcupine Brook' that feeds into the Southwest Branch of the Mighty Miramichi River. Failure to follow the NB Fisheries and local hunting laws may result in warnings and/or fines. We, at The Hideaway are not responsible for any fishing or hunting activities by our guests. Food: To accommodate our guests, The Hideaway will have frozen meal options available onsite from a local restaurant beginning in late September. Please give us notice if you require this option. Lo
