Guests may choose between two arrival options depending on their vehicle and preference. 🌿 Self-Arrival (Recommended for AWD / 4x4 / ATV) Guests with suitable vehicles may drive directly to their cabin after check-in time. The laneway is a maintained forest road and is rough in areas. Most AWD and 4x4 vehicles, including my personal Subaru Crosstrek, handle it comfortably, but something to be prepared for. This option allows for flexible and independent arrival. 🚐 Scheduled Shuttle Arrival (All Vehicles Welcome) Guests without AWD/4x4 access may park at our parking area located 0.2 km down the laneway. We provide complimentary shuttle service during a daily arrival window: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM This ensures a smooth, coordinated arrival experience for all guests. One return trip at check-out is included. Additional in-stay transportation is not available. ❄️ Winter Access In winter months, access is by snowmobile due to seasonal conditions. We provide transportation of luggage and gear during scheduled arrival times. Guests may also choose to snowshoe or walk the approximate 1.5 km route using provided equipment. 🌲 Property Access Once settled, guests have access to: • 750 feet of private Miramichi River shoreline • A riverside firepit area • Marked forest hiking and snowshoe trails (use at own risk) • Complete privacy in a natural riverfront setting Other things to note The Spruce cabin is situated closely to our other rental cabin (The Birch) and both cabins share a communal large deck (approx. 320 sq ft) and the cedar outdoor shower. The Spruce cabin does have a private deck with a firepit, so crossover on the communal deck will be limited/unlikely. The owners (hosts) live approximately 200' from the rental cabins, however the guest cabins do offer privacy. The loft stairs in the spruce are steep, they are not a regular pitched staircase. Although steep, they are comfortable to climb with large hand holds along the side and must be descended backwards similar to a ladder. If you have mobility issues, they will be difficult to climb and may not be suitable for your stay. We are off-grid! Each cabin runs off of solar and therefore are equipped with lights and electricity. The cabins are capable of running small appliances such as a laptop or charging your phone. However, our system cannot handle any larger appliances such as toasters, hairdryers, gaming systems etc... please do not use these items. Wifi can be spotty in the cabins but can be accessed on the deck/porch. The property surrounding the cabins is all forest! It is not manicured. it is uneven ground and steep in areas, so guests are asked to wear proper footwear and use caution when walking around. Please be mindful you are in wilderness. Animals live here too, so please do not leave any food out on the deck or open in the cabins. Make sure the cover is always put back on the BBQ once finished with it. ATV/Snowmobile: The Hideaway is conveniently located a short distance from the main NB Trail system. Follow a short trail that brings you to Storeytown Road and The Hideaway laneway. We are a perfect stop for anyone seeking an off the beaten path experience. Fishing: our 750' of waterfront property has riparian rights with a fishing pool known as 'Porcupine Brook' that feeds into the Southwest Branch of the Miramichi River. Failure to follow the NB Fisheries and local hunting laws may result in warnings and/or fines. We, at The Hideaway are not responsible for any fishing or hunting activities by our guests. Food: To accommodate our guests, The Hideaway will have frozen meal options available onsite from a local restaurant beginning in late September. Please give us notice if you require this option.
