Chalet Pêle-Mêle is hidden up a quiet lane with no passing traffic on the slopes of Prarion above the village of Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley. The views up on to the Aiguilles, the Midi and peaks of the Mont Blanc massif are stunning. This is a hiker’s paradise! The chalet sits on one of the main footpaths up on to the summit of Prarion, from where a 360-degree panorama allows you to see the entire northern French Alpes. Follow this path further still, either to the very summit of Mont Blanc, or around the massif on the Tour du Mont Blanc. Built over two floors, the chalet has six bedrooms on the lower floor and a vast open plan living area with a separate kitchen on the upper floor. This huge open upper floor is undoubtedly the highlight of this traditional old Savoyade farm. It can be split into three distinct areas: The Dining Area at the south end where a long dining table and chairs allows large groups to feast together in a Game-of-Thrones setting; the Sitting Area, where guests can lounge on the sprawling sofas and comfy chairs chatting, drinking or watching the big screen Tv; and the Chilling Area where a double and a single bed accommodate extra guests or just provide a place to relax and catch up on a few minutes sleep after a hard day in the mountains. The chalet’s two terraces are accessed from the upper floor. The east-facing terrace has a bench and table and where the first rays of the day will warm your cheeks as you sip your morning coffee or watch the last few rays paint the mountains a wild red as you relax with a glass of wine. Regardless of what time of day it is, the views from Chalet Pêle-Mêle are sumptuous. Nb: A short but steep path leads to the chalet. Snow tyres are necessary and a 4x4 is recommended Chalet Layout The chalet is accessed via the staircase on the front of the building. On this lower level there are six bedrooms: four inside the main chalet and two inside the annex. The annex rooms are accessed from the exterior covered entrance. This means guests using these two bedrooms have to step out of the annex and cross the covered terrace to access the toilet in the main chalet. Consequently it isn’t suitable for very young children. The Lower Floor Contains Bedroom 1 sleeps two in a double bed and opens out to the garden Bedroom 2 sleeps three in three single beds, two of which can be combined to make a double Bedroom 3 sleeps two in a bunkbed Bedroom 4 sleeps two in a double bed with a shower room A large bathroom with shower, two basins and a toilet services this floor Bedrooms 5 & 6 are in the annex and contain three beds in connected rooms so guests in the back bedroom have to pass through the front bedroom to enter The Upper Floor Contains The huge open space with the Dining, Sitting and Chilling Areas A second, smaller, separate dining area adjoined to the well equipped kitchen A bathroom with shower, basin and Wc Access to the two terraces Guests should notice that none of the room in Chalet Pêle-Mêle are ensuite. Each floor has a toilet and there are three showers. For this reason, the chalet suits groups of friends and families who are not going to be put off by sharing bathrooms.
