This cozy private 1000 SF custom-built cottage nestled in the woods has everything you need for a fun and relaxing getaway in Rabun County (including kayaks, hammock, a wood-burning stove, a firepit patio, a screened porch). Located 7 miles from Clayton and minutes away from wineries, lake Burton access, waterfalls, hiking & biking trails, national forest, this cottage is perfect for one or two couples or a small family. Enjoy living on a quiet private wooded hilltop - a sweet retreat! The space Woodland Cottage is a comfortable, quiet, and inviting retreat, offering a lovely wooded and private setting. The cottage was built in 2019 and features new appliances, granite counter tops, a chef’s kitchen with gas stove & cooktop, a screened in porch, a spacious front porch with hammock, a brick patio with firepit and 3 kayaks. The grounds feature native and flowering plants, and offers a lovely front yard garden. The interior of the cottage offers tastefully integrated locally-sourced, vintage and nautical décor. As you walk into the cottage, you can enjoy a soaring ceiling and ample natural light in the living room, an open updated chef's kitchen, and 2 bedrooms (1 queen bed, 1 double bed) and 2 bathrooms. You can unwind and enjoy your meals in the dining room (just steps from the kitchen) or on the covered side porch. The living room offers a rustic wood-burning stove for heat or ambiance. If you prefer an outdoor fire, make some s'mores or enjoy the sounds of the woods on the brick patio with firepit. Just off the screened porch, you'll find a Weber charcoal grill available with charcoal and grilling tools for outdoor cooking. Additionally, the cottage has 3 fully outfitted kayaks for your use in a local lake. We welcome you to Woodland Cottage, to unwind and relax among the trees, and settle into the comfort of this sweet cottage. It's yours to make your little slice of heaven for as long as you like! The Location: The cottage is close to all that Rabun County has to offer – from farm to table dining to wineries to antiquing to mountain lakes and parks, and whitewater rafting. The cabin is 30-minutes (or less) to: the Tallulah Gorge State Park, Black Rock Mountain State Park, Chattahoochee National Forest, the Hambidge Center (cultural & artist center), wineries, Chattooga River (National Wild & Scenic River) river hiking, kayaking, and whitewater rafting, plus many hiking trails and waterfalls. Enjoy fly-fishing on any number of pristine streams in the Chattooga watershed. The cottage is in very close proximity to wineries, waterfalls, lake access, and hiking and biking trails: *Swim at the sandy public beach of Lake Burton with mountain background, a 10-minute drive. *The Stonewall Creek area, a 15-minute drive, offers a waterfall and theWhite Twister and Stonewall Creek hiking and mountain bike trails. *Two private waterfalls, a 10-15 minute walk/5-minute drive. *Two vineyards (Tiger Mtn and Stonewall Creek) are vey close and in Tiger. A quick and curvy drive from the cottage, be sure to visit historic downtown Clayton. Take an afternoon of strolling unique stores (from boutiques to antiques) and enjoy a meal at Fortify or The White Birch Inn -- Clayton's two best fine dining options. For a more laid back atmosphere try The Universal Joint for beers and live music. The cabin is also in close proximity to Highlands, Cashiers, and Franklin NC, all of which are 40-ish minutes away. Guest access You have full access to the cozy cottage - indoor and outdoor spaces. The owner has 2 spaces (1 kitchen area & 1 closet) that will be marked private (no guest access). Other things to note Additional amenities not listed above: ice-maker in fridge, air-fryer, bluetooth speaker (for your playlist). We are happy to provide an emergency supply kit for your convenience with flashlight, sunscreen, dental floss, toothbrushes, and other essential items that you may need during your stay. We recognize that dogs are an essential part of many families, and we welcome up to two well-behaved canine companions with a $40 per-booking/visit dog fee. Please let the host know as you are making your reservation that you plan to bring your 4-legged family member(s). We will provide a water bowl and towels (for muddy/dirty feet), as well as a couch cover (to ensure that our couch stays as new and clean as for the next guests). We do ask that you keep your pets off the furniture and beds, and clean up after your pets during their stay.
