Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway at one of the few houses with unobstructed views of the Mississippi River in the area. Located conveniently 5 miles away from Savanna, IL and 35 miles from Galena, IL, you’ll have the best of both worlds to satisfy your weekend getaway experience by exploring local attractions and still be able to come home to a quiet place to rest. Our house is unique with multiple levels/add-ons over the years which we think adds to the charm and character of this home! If you are looking for a simple one-level ranch the River House is not the place for you! The main floor includes living room with seating for six, 50 inch TV with Roku and an electric fireplace. The living area is open to the dining room which seats six, an additional smaller table and chairs for two, and small half bath. The kitchen is galley style and stocked with dishes and pots/pans for all your cooking needs. The main floor also includes one large bedroom with king size bed and an additional room with twin size bed and full washer/dryer. The second level boasts an open master suite with water view, king size bed, electric fireplace, and full bathroom with double vanity. A second set of stairs leads to the lower level that provides a full bathroom, smaller living space, and bedroom with double size bed. The lower level provides access to the west-facing patio with full water view that includes patio table/4 chairs, 2 plastic Adirondack chairs, and small fire pit to enjoy! There is an additional small patio outside the main entrance with additional outdoor seating that also has water views and steps to the west-facing patio. Guests will have full access to the home. Guests can reach us through the Airbnb platform . Although we both work full time we will respond as soon as we can to requests or questions. The home location is rural residential with houses nearby but very quiet and away from traffic. Local residents can be seen using golf carts in the area for quick travel and leisure trips. We would recommend our location for peaceful walks as well as a good location to bring and use your bicycles! There is a 60 mile paved bike trail within a mile of the River House that connects Savanna, IL to the Quad Cities area that runs parallel to the river. Our location has ample parking for several vehicles in front of the residence. We recommend bringing a vehicle as there are no local driving/Uber services available. Bicycles could be used to take the paved path from the River House to Savanna if a 5 mile/one way bike trip is right up your alley! As noted in the space description, our house has multiple levels and two sets of stairs. Individuals with mobility issues may prefer a one-level house versus our River House to accommodate their needs. Our river-facing patio has a steep drop-off down to the river bank. An original set of stairs down the drop-off could provide access to the river but we do not recommend using it. The riverbank/drop-off is owned by the Army Corps of Engineers that do not allow us to make any changes, add a railing, etc. Please consider this if you have children or wish to stay at a house with more direct access to the river. There is a public boat landing half a mile away from the River House for your direct access to the water. We understand fur babies are members of the family and allow up to two pets at the River House during your stay. We do not provide pet-friendly amenities on site (dog beds, litter box, etc.). We request for pets to not be left unattended when allowed free access in the home and to be crated/kenneled when left alone to minimize accidents and damage to furniture. A pet fee will be assigned for additional cleaning and coverage for potential accidents or damage for stays that bring pets. Inside the River Home near the coffee station is a Guidebook listing nearby restaurants and attractions.
