Mississippi River Home

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway at one of the few houses with unobstructed views of the Mississippi River in the area. Located conveniently 5 miles away from Savanna, IL and 35 miles from Galena, IL, you’ll have the best of both worlds to satisfy your weekend getaway experience by exploring local attractions and still be able to come home to a quiet place to rest. The space Our house is unique with multiple levels/add-ons over the years which we think adds to the charm and character of this home! If you are looking for a simple one-level ranch the River House is not the place for you! The main floor includes living room with seating for six, 50 inch TV with Roku and an electric fireplace. The living area is open to the dining room which seats six, an additional smaller table and chairs for two, and small half bath. The kitchen is galley style and stocked with dishes and pots/pans for all your cooking needs. The main floor also includes one large bedroom with king size bed and an additional room with twin size bed and full washer/dryer. The second level boasts an open master suite with water view, king size bed, electric fireplace, and full bathroom with double vanity. A second set of stairs leads to the lower level that provides a full bathroom, smaller living space, and bedroom with double size bed. The lower level provides access to the west-facing patio with full water view that includes patio table/4 chairs, 2 plastic Adirondack chairs, and small fire pit to enjoy! There is an additional small patio outside the main entrance with additional outdoor seating that also has water views and steps to the west-facing patio. Guest access Guests will have full access to the home. Other things to note As noted in the space description, our house has multiple levels and two sets of stairs. Individuals with mobility issues may prefer a one-level house versus our River House to accommodate their needs. Our river-facing patio has a steep drop-off down to the river bank. An original set of stairs down the drop-off could provide access to the river but we do not recommend using it. The riverbank/drop-off is owned by the Army Corps of Engineers that do not allow us to make any changes, add a railing, etc. Please consider this if you have children or wish to stay at a house with more direct access to the river. There is a public boat landing half a mile away from the River House for your direct access to the water. We understand fur babies are members of the family and allow up to two pets at the River House during your stay. We do not provide pet-friendly amenities on site (dog beds, litter box, etc.). We request for pets to not be left unattended when allowed free access in the home and to be crated/kenneled when left alone to minimize accidents and damage to furniture. A $50 pet fee will be assigned to stays with pet(s) for additional cleaning and coverage for potential accidents or damage for stays that bring pets.
