Surrounded by mountains, our Phoenicia apartment is an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the Catskills. We’re a short stroll from the shops and restaurants of Main Street, across the street from the creek for cooling off, around the corner from a lovely playground and three hiking trails. Weekends are filled with shows at the playhouse and the best Farmer’s Market around. Come see why Phoenicia is one of the coolest small towns in the country. The original house was built in 1809 as a fishing retreat making it one of the oldest fishing retreats in America. We purchased the property in 2018 and named it the Greenwood Inn after our old Brooklyn neighborhood. We have been lovingly renovating and restoring it ever since. The apartment is an attached unit with its own entrance and two decks. It has a cozy queen bed and a pull out sofa in the living room. There is a fire pit, a charcoal grill and outdoor dining. Enjoy relaxing on the deck or soaking in the deep tub. Guests are free to use space behind the unit and the big field beyond the spruce trees. My wife and I live on the property in the main house with our two children and a very friendly but slightly shy dog. We're usually around and easily reachable by text if you need anything. You can spend the day strolling up and down Main Street. Start your morning at Sweet Sue’s and get some of their famous pancakes and locally roasted coffee. Once you’re caffeinated, head next door and browse the isles of the Arts & Antiques place on the corner or head across the street and visit the Catskill Clothing Company to pick up a cool t-shirt or trucker hat. Keep going and you can grab bug spray, citronella candles, or a cute souvenir at Phoenicia Supply. You’ll pass the Phoenicia Library if you need a new book. Before you work up an appetite for lunch, check out Melange, Tenderland Home and the Varga Gallery. Don’t stop yet, fuel up with pizza, burgers, salads (and maybe a pint) at the Sportsman but save room for a stop at The Ice Cream Station. You’ve still got the Antiques Spot and the Nest Egg down at the end of the block. When you’re ready to head back, you can grab some supplies at the Phoenicia Market. They have a great beer selection but if wine is more your thing you may have spotted the liquor store earlier. If you’re not in the mood to cook, you can always stroll across the bridge and eat at the Phoenician. Whatever you choose there are still trails to hike, the Phoenicia Farmer’s Market, Rail Explorers, and star gazing in the backyard. Shops, bars, restaurants, a grocery, parks, trailheads and more are all within walking distance. You don't even need a car to get here! We are a short 10 minute walk from the Trailways bus stop. But you'll want a car if you want to go beyond the hamlet of Phoenicia. Additional photos on Insta "greenwood_inn"!
