Welcome to the New Ideal Building where history meets modernity smack dab in the middle of Downtown Birmingham's uber-historical Theater District! Imagine this: it's 1925. Downtown Birmingham is teaming with life. Speak Easies in full swing, music drifting through the night air. You are walking from a restaurant to a live performance being held at the famous Alabama Theater. You notice an elegant department store building as you walk inscribed with the name "New Ideal." In the windows boast beautiful clothing designs and tempting prices. You continue to walk noticing the plethora of vaudeville theaters and playhouses including the still popular Lyric theater. "It must all be a dream!" You think to yourself. BUT then! You realize as you open your eyes that you were dreaming but aren't sure if you're awake yet or not, because the dream seems to have gotten even better! You realize you're INSIDE the New Ideal Building, and it's no longer a department store from the 1920s but a modernized 2023 version of an architectural and historical Birmingham staple. A bit off kilter, you sit up on the oversized and lengthy sofa surrounded by throw pillows and pure comfort and notice three prodigious windows looking out onto 2nd Avenue North where you notice the McWane Science Center just right across the street! (Thinking you should've brought the kids after all huh?) Moving away from the windows, you can't help but admire the massive 72' TV as you wander into the kitchen area which was an easy stroll because of the spacious floor plan of the downstairs living area. The kitchen is complete with a beautiful island topped with a silky smoothe countertop. You notice also all stainless steel appliances. The gas stove excites your inner chef and the fully stocked cabinets reassure you that your convenience has been considered. You smile a little as you notice the little coffee station your hosts have set up for you to make your mornings (and/or evenings) a little easier. You turn to explore the rest of your prestigious downtown loft and are taken aback at the distinguished spiral staircase that leads up to what you suppose are the sleeping quarters. As you ascend, you stop halfway up to admire the view just outside the gloriously tall windows. The mile-high ceilings add even more space to the place. It seems to you that this place was designed for ease and comfort while maintaining pure class and style honoring its historical background. You reach the top of the stairs and come into the first bedroom that holds a deliciously comfy queen bed with four comfy pillows to match. The bed faces the tall windows so as the guest who sleeps there can enjoy the wonderful natural lighting. Walking forward, you find an elongated hallway aligned with beautiful hardwood that leads to a second entrance to the loft. As you walk down, you notice a bathroom on your right. You take a step inside and marvel at the pearly white tile walls and floors, the glass walled walkin shower, the his/hers sinks, and the lighting which is perfect for getting ready to go out. But before you do go out, you wander into the final room - the King bedroom. You plop down onto the pillowy, decadent mattress and sink your head into the luxurious memory foam pillows almost forgetting that you're meeting your friends in less than an hour at the Pizitz food hall which you've found recently has become one of the most well loved and most visited places in the city not to mention that the 2nd floor terrace of the New Ideal building shows you just how close you are to the dining experience that's to be had in just a short while. Now, fast forward. You've just finished dinner and drinks at the Pizitz and want to extend the night a little longer. You're super grateful that your hosts provided you with all the best spots in town from the many historic theaters to the most unique cocktail bars found anywhere on this side of the country. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the New Ideal building and historic downtown is Southside downtown Birmingham which also cradles much of Birmingham's trendy scene. Everywhere you go all you see is lights, camera, action! Everything about this trip is insta-worthy! Talk about a Snap story gone overboard. At New Ideal, preservation meets innovation as history and the future are woven together in a timeless design. You've found the ONE. Aren't you glad you did? This whole unit is yours.
