The Old Bake House is a beautifully restored 4 bed/ 3 bath large home with hot tub & courtyard, just seconds from the ocean. Step out of the front door with your coffee and be onTorcross promende and sea front within seconds. It also overlooks a Site of Special Scientific Interest (Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve) -the lake views are stunning! The building is a Victorian property in Torcross, with 3 floors, large rooms & high ceilings. It's very spacious with 'boutique hotel' style decor. The space The property is a beautiful and historic Victorian double fronted house in the lovely South Devon village of Torcross next to the beach, with accommodation on the top 2 floors of 3. Sleeping up to 10 people in 2 x superking or twin ensuites, 1 x double, 1 x 4 person bunk room complete with cinema wall/projector for movies/ games consoles. Stunning uninterrupted views across the freshwater lake (Slapton Ley) which is opposite famous Slapton Sands. Take your breakfast, or coffee, or both, and step outside onto the beach to see beautiful sunrises over the ocean. Cook your dinner in the brand new kitchen, and take it to the beach if the weather is fine. The beach also allow BBQ's/fires and dogs all year around, and has multiple places to eat (Start Bay Inn, The Boat House, The Billy Can) as well as a lovely yoga studio that runs classes all year round. The front door, seconds from the ocean and South West coast path, leads to the Victorian hallway and stairs, with lots of space/storage for shoes and coats. First floor - the large first floor landing opens up to: Living room with gorgeous log burner, and chic modern/Victorian decor. Navy chesterfield sofas (brand new, one 4 seater/ one 3 seater) and a mustard velvet window seat (seats 2) and a footstool provide ample seating. From the window there are stunning uninterrupted lake views over National Nature Reserve Slapton Ley. Open plan kitchen dining room, with the same amazing views over the Freshwater Lake, and along Slapton Line to famous Slapton Sands beach. The new Shaker style kitchen is very well equipped with an antique belfast sink, rangemaster double oven with induction 5 ring hob, bespoke made rustic kitchen island and plenty of storage. The matching dining room table seats 10, plus a window seat for 2, with 2 gorgeous deep green wing back chairs to take a seat, read the paper, drink a coffee and enjoy the watching the world go by - always ducks and swans, and plenty of bird life to view right outside your window on the Lake shore and duckery. Deep greens and greys in this large open plan room create a warm, fresh vibe! Double bedroom for 2, with wardrobe, and vintage bedroom furniture. Sitting in bed, you are treated to those same gorgeous views over Slapton Ley. This room is creams and greens, with fresh white linen and sumptious throws and cushions. Stylish artwork and some vintage items to make it feel homely. Bunk room with 2 sets of custom made full size single bunk beds to sleep 4, the kids with LOVE this room, complete with projector and cinema wall, large rug and lots of kids books. Plenty of built in storage and lovely neutral colours for throws and cushions, white linens. Main bathroom (for the double room and bunk room). Modern / Victorian style with large, light shower with overhead rain shower and wand, metro tiles, Burlington sanitary ware, original antique basin, heated towel rail. Large room with lots of style! No bath in here, but there are 2 baths in the property on the floor above! Utility room complete with lots of shelving and storage, indoor drying rack, washing machine and dryer, basin, tap. Perfect for drying all the swimming / beach gear! Second floor On the top floor are 2 equally amazing master en-suites. No more arguing over who gets the best room The first master ensuite can be set up either as two singles/twins for 2 sharing, or as a Super King bed. Your choice! Perfect for friends, siblings, or couples. One has a chic turquoise/ gold theme with a vintage French chair, vintage suitcases, roll top bath, lots of hanging and storage space, a chest of drawers, bed side tables and side lamps. The colour matching ensuite has a classy light turquoise metro tile theme, with Burlington Victorian sanitary ware. The bath is in the bedroom under the Velux window, the en-suite is a shower room with shower, toilet, basin. This room also has a second window with far reaching views over Slapton Ley (freshwater lake and nature reserve) and Slapton sands beach/ ocean towards Strete Gate. The second master ensuite can also be set up either as two singles/twins for 2 sharing, or as a Super King bed. Your choice! Perfect for friends, siblings, or couples. This room has a brown and gold vintage theme, with mustard chairs, vintage furniture, roll top bath, lots of hanging and storage space, a chest of drawers, bed side tables and side lamps. The colour matching ensuite has a classy light brown metro tile theme, with Burlington Victorian sanitary ware. The bath is in the bedroom under, the en-suite is a shower room with shower, toilet, basin. This room also has a window with far reaching views over Slapton Ley (freshwater lake and nature reserve) and Slapton sands beach/ ocean towards Strete Gate. There is a brand new (installed 2026) private south facing sunny courtyard with an outdoor (hot water) beach shower, and a Canadian Spa hot tub. Complete with BBQ, small table and 2 chairs, fairy lights and spa you will love this sun trap area! This area is super helpful in case you have bikes, surf boards, kayaks, paddleboards, or wish to dry things in the sun outside. This side of the house is south facing and so it's a perfect place to dry beach gear. The gate to the property, via a lit passageway, leads to the front door and private, fully enclosed courtyard. The shower with wand, rain head and tap is perfect for washing kids, dogs and beach gear. The ground floor of the property houses a tiny wellness studio called Start Bay Studio, owned and operated by the Old Bake House owner Natalie. There are Yoga classes, Pilates classes, massage and more on offer. It is very quiet, you won't hear any noise from below, but you will have a 10% discount for any drop in classes. We do ask that guests are quiet - the yoga studio is a quiet wellness space and we love guests who don't jump up and down creating noise below, or create lots of noise when enjoying the hot tub or outdoor shower, which is next to the yoga studio. There are 14 free parking spaces next to the house (no time limit / not ticketed at all), and lots of other free parking in the village which we share after booking. There are also 2 large paid car parks in the village but these are not needed. Even in the height of summer we have never had a guest have an issue with parking. You can also park in front of the front door to load/ unload without issue. Guest access The entire house is for you! There is a key safe with code, we will provide the code prior to check in. Other things to note The house is 3 floors. The courtyard, hot tub, outdoor shower, front door, vestibule and hallway are on the ground floor. All living, dining, bedrooms, bathrooms are on the upper two floors. The ground floor of the property also has our wellness space for yoga and pilates classed.
