Millstone Cottage is located in a Private Lake Resort community in the mountains at a higher elevation than many homes in the state. Please take note of the following: -Cell service may be limited while driving to the cabin, so please screenshot directions to be certain you have them if needed. -Please note that if extreme weather occurs in winter, ice may prevent access to Millstone Cottage. We monitor weather conditions during the winter, and will relay necessary information as needed. We are located in Terra Alta, WV which is the snowiest town/city in the entire state of West Virginia. During winter months, it may be helpful to have 4WD or AWD. -There is sufficient parking for 1-2 cars at the home. Please be cautious when backing in and out. ~IMPORTANT~ Please ONLY FLUSH TOILET PAPER! Please be conscious of water use and make sure no water fixtures are left running unattended. -Please note that you are staying in a mountain wooded community with many different types of bugs and animals. Wild turkey and Deer love to roam and the cabin is beautiful hang out and watch for wildlife and bird watch. We have regular pest control services on the exterior of the home to keep bugs out, however; please be aware that you may have encounters with these amazing creatures. There is the possibility that you may see a bear in our area during your stay, so please be aware and respectful. Due to wildlife in the area, all garbage is removed by our housekeeping team immediately after your stay. Please make sure to bag all garbage and place in designated areas in encasement. Seasonally during active bear season, we may arrange for garbage pick-up or ask you to place garbage outside only at check-out so we can ensure to keep the bears away. Thank you! Grill utensils are located in the gas grill for your use, please return them to the grill area for next guest. Pets - Welcomed with prior approval and pet fee of $25 - $100 depending on # of nights and your past reviews. Housekeeping - Routine housekeeping services are included in the booking fee, however, please be considerate and place furniture and other items in the places they were at the beginning of your stay. Additional fees will be charged if extensive cleanup, damage repair/replacement, and relocation of furniture are required. Provided with your stay: - Access to the entire 2-bedroom cottage. - All linens, sheets, bedding, towels, washcloths - The Cottage Deck offers a beautiful view of the forest. - A gas grill is available on the deck. Please use provided grill utensils. -BBQ pit at the beach pavilion to use on a first come basis. - Kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, bowls, plates, glass/silverware, ie. - Kitchen has a full fridge and freezer m, a 4-top gas stove and full oven - Fully stocked kitchen items: Coffee-maker, microwave, i.e. - Select food items in cabinets (feel free to use any condiments or food items/coffee in stock) - We provide 2 rolls of toilet paper for short term stays. As we enter the Fall Fire Season in West Virginia, which runs from October 1st to December 31st, Alpine Lake Management wants to remind everyone of the strict standards in place to protect one of our state's most valuable resources: our forests. West Virginia law prohibits outdoor burning between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. during this period. This regulation is in place because dry leaves and debris in the fall become highly flammable, posing a significant fire risk. Evening hours are less prone to fire hazards as relative humidity tends to increase. Debris burning is the leading cause of wildfires in West Virginia, accounting for over 35% of all wildfires in the past decade. To ensure our Alpine Lake community stays safe, please familiarize yourself with the following fall fire season regulations: Guests are welcome to roam the property all the way to the river! There is so much to do and see. Kayak or swim in the river or simply relax on the bank or near the fire pit. Liability Waiver: You understand that swimming, hiking and the use of kayaks is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with swimming, hiking and using the kayaks. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising from swimming, hiking and use of the kayaks and hold owner harmless. You understand there are potential dangers that swimming, hiking and the use of kayaks may present to children who are not carefully supervised, as well as the danger to any person swimming, hiking or using the kayaks if a person has health risks, or if a person swims, hikes or uses the paddle boards, kayaks, or tubes while intoxicated or using any kind of drugs or medication, or while pregnant. You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents you may incur. You understand the risks discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences of those in your party. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against owner for accidents or claims arising from swimming, hiking or using the kayaks.
