Other things to note Welcome to The Station House Retreat — Est. 1836, a historic layover home nestled along the Erie Canal and just a stone’s throw from the tracks that shaped travel in New York State. In 1836, the Utica & Schenectady line opened, extending rail travel through the Mohawk Valley and connecting with the earlier 1831 Mohawk & Hudson route. The tracks brought steam, workers, travelers, and cargo to this corridor — and our home served as a peaceful resting stop. Today, The Station House Retreat still offers what travelers once needed: a warm place to pause, surrounded by quiet waters, valley landscapes, and the gentle hum of history. Relax, unwind, and enjoy a home that has been offering rest for nearly two centuries.
