HIKING AND ACTIVITIES (within 10 min): • Kinderhook town is 5 minutes away, here you will find galleries and historic sights as well as family fun events and activities. • Kinderhook Farmers Market: runs May - October in the village square • The Albany-Hudson Electric Trail: This paved, multi-use trail runs from Hudson to Albany and is suitable for walking, biking, running, and strolling with the whole family. The closest trailhead and parking lot are located just a few minutes away in Kinderhook village’s Rothaermel Park, which also includes a children’s playground. • Martin Van Buren Nature Trails: Literally around the corner from the Kinderhome! Perfect for a relaxing morning walk. • Dutch Farming Heritage Trail: a 1.7-mile self-guided tour that takes you through the history of farming in the Kinderhook area. The trail begins at the Luykas Van Alen House (parking at Ichabod Crane schoolhouse) and ends at the Lindenwald Site. • Pick your own fruit! A local favorite is Samascott Orchards in Kinderhook, which offers a variety of apples, peaches, and other fruits. HIKING AND ACTIVITIES (within 15-30 min away): • 15 min to High Falls Conservation Area in Hudson NY. A variety of trails, and an overlook of Columbia County’s highest waterfall. • 20 min to The Schodack Island State Park Trail: This trail offers beautiful views of the Hudson River and Schodack Island. It is a great option for a short hike. • 20 min to Hudson NY restaurants and shopping as well as Hudson Opera House • 30 min to Lake Taghkanic State Park: This state park has 10 miles of trails, with options for all levels of hikers. It also has a beautiful lake where you can swim, boat, or fish. • 30 min to Catamount Resort- Ski/snowboard in winter. Warmer months they offer zip-line and aerial adventure tours; hiking; and scenic chairlift rides + day camp for kids. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house (apart from the locked owners/supply closet) and part of the basement with the house mechanicals. Other things to note HOUSE RULES (please review before booking)  No pets, no parties, or events.  We are a no shoes house. Please store shoes inside house.  No Smoking, cigarette butts found on property or in fire pit will incur fees.  Food and garbage should not be left outside as they will attract animals.  Please do not leave food out inside of the house or take into bedrooms.  Do not flush anything other than toilet tissue as we are on delicate septic.  When outdoors please remain in the cleared portion of the yard. The wooded areas outside of cleared property line are off limits and the land quickly turns into the neighbor’s property.  Please leave doors shut after going in and out, bugs move quickly.
