Charming Gîte in the heart of the woods and vineyards

Our lovely gîte is in the heart of the beautiful Charente-Maritime countryside. Suitable for two adults and up to three children. La Gaitrie enjoys a beautiful setting in peaceful surroundings. Bordeaux and Cognac are an hour's drive away as are the beaches of the Atlantic coast. Towns and villages offer a variety of amenities and shops, as well as weekly markets selling fresh and regional products. La Gaitrie benefits from a beautiful setting in a peaceful setting. The cottage is wheelchair accessible and fully accessible. There are miles of trails to walk or bike through the surrounding woods (oaks, birches, chestnuts, cherries), vineyards and countryside. It's also a great place for authors to finish writing your book! La Gaitrie is in a dark sky area with incredible views of the Milky Way on clear nights. We have a house telescope available on request, or bring your own! The Gîte There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a single bed, a child's box bed (a small single bed) and a baby bed. There is also one small sofa bed in the living area. Beds have heated mattress covers in winter for extra comfort! Heating in the cottage is only by a wood burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, washing machine and large dining table. Cribs, travel cots and high chair can be provided upon request. Large bathroom with large walk-in shower (sorry, no bathtub). All linen including bed sheets and towels are provided. Please advise in advance if you have any special requirements regarding allergies. Well-behaved pets are welcome on request. N.B. There is no Wi-Fi; we only have mobile internet at home. However, there is good 3G and 4G coverage using your own data plans. The beds have electric blankets in the winter for extra coziness! The heating in the cottage is by a wood-burning stove only. The kitchen is fully equipped including a fridge-freezer, washing machine and large dining table. Cribs, travel cribs and high chair can be provided on request. Large bathroom with large walk-in shower (sorry, no bath). All bed linens and towels are provided. Please notify in advance if you have any particular requirements regarding allergies. Well-behaved pets are welcome by prior agreement. N.B. There is no Wi-Fi. We do not have an adsl broadband connection, only mobile internet. However, there is good 3G and 4G coverage using your own data plans. Guest access Whole Gîte. Garden, woodlands and tracks. Please respect our peaceful gardens, pets and other guests. Other things to note Having a car is almost essential as there is no bus network. Nearest train/bus is 13km. WIFI Unfortunately we cannot provide a wifi connection suitable for streaming Netflix etc. This is because our rural location means that there are no available internet connections that can provide the bandwidth required. However there is good 3G and 4G coverage using your own data plans. If you should require an ethernet connection for business purposes, we will be very happy to help, but do be aware that this also works off a 4G mobile broadband connection and so is also limited in it’s bandwidth.
