A spectacular village in the Siachen belt, Sumoor lies at a critical juncture that connects some of Ladakh’s most popular attractions — Hunder, Pangong Lake, Turtuk, the hot springs of Panamik, and the most recent addition to every intrepid traveller’s bucket list, Warshi, the last village before the Siachen Glacier. The space Home to the well-known Samstanling Monastery with the majestic Karakoram range as its backdrop, this charming village is also a place where you find the most authentic Ladakhi cuisine, grown organically in greenhouses and cooked without modifying the real traditional recipes. Guest access The guests can use a single bedroom setup within the house. The host provides warm blanket and amenities curated to suit a traveler's comfort. The entire linen has been handcrafted as per international hospitality standards and comforts. Your breakfast and dinner are included in the cost mentioned on Airbnb, Do note the Ladakhi houses use dry-compost toilet during winters and guests will use the same toilet. Heating is only available in winters (Oct- March) through a local Bukhari (Fireplace) which runs only for few hours. The hosts usually cook local Indian dishes like Daal, Chapati and Vegetables for food. For any special request or local cuisine do ask the host in advanced. Do note, there is NO access to Wi-Fi in the region. The internet is available through Jio and Airtel mobile network which works fine in the area. The homestay does not have any internet facilities. Other things to note We provide an experiential stay which includes: 1. Cooking-traditional dishes 2. Chang tasting, local brewed barley and rice beer/wine 3. Gardening (June-September only)-Sowing, Weeding, Chamomile plucking, vegetable drying, and so on. 4. Village tour-walk along the Indus 5. Hike- To the nearby trails in village (Duration of stay: more than 2 days) 6. Story telling: Buddhism, Ladakhi culture, People, Personal stories, wildlife, nomadic lifestyle and so on.
