The structure and layout are unique in every way, with the cozy alcove studio at a 6' 6” (198 cm) ceiling height with 5' 10” (178 cm) at the support beam. The studio has everything you need—a fully equipped kitchen (brand new Danby Stainless Steel fridge/freezer, new GE Stainless Steel Electric Range, Danby microwave, coffee maker, wide slot toaster, cordless stainless steel kettle and all necessary cooking items); dining/study/work area with finished solid wood table and chairs; sitting/reading nook with a colourful double futon, wardrobe and chest of drawers; bright, efficient bathroom with sink, counter, shelves, WaterSense toilet and recessed tiled shower; and, best of all, a cozy bedroom alcove with Sealy Posturepedic® PRO Firm Queen Mattress surrounded by peaceful artistic décor. The property consists of the main home and back deck, a separate studio office and garage, and a backyard with organic vegetable and pollinator gardens, hammock, swings, trampoline, and onsite cottage. In winter this extremely safe older neighbourhood is quiet and introspective, while the warmer months bring out the sounds of birds, laughing children, and friendly neighbours. The studio is warm in winter with central heating with adjustable vents, as well as a portable radiating heater. In summer the studio is naturally cool (we have central AC but try to limit its use) with awning window airflow and a dehumidifier for your comfort as well. We are a happy family of four—Magda (health care professional, flower gardener), Sam (psychotherapist, veggie gardener), Nadia (teen artist, dancer), and Jasper, our ginger and white cat. We are a quiet family—though occasionally Nadia will burst into song or wrestle with Jasper! Guest access As stated above, our double-wide free parking area is designated for our vehicle and yours. The alcove studio is accessed through a private side entrance via a Goldsworthy-inspired, hand-laid, spiral stone slab stepway, complete with safe and sturdy, stone-fastened, hardwood branch railing. For any needs feel free to text/call us or come up the wooden deck to our back door. Magda has a flexible schedule and Sam has a home office, so we are very available. During your stay, enjoy the surrounding property of our home. Feel free to rest in the hammock, try the trampoline and tree swings, or explore the wee wild play area at the back. Other things to note NO SMOKING, STRONG SCENTS, INCENSE, CANDLES For health and safety reasons, no smoking, incense, candles, or fragrances (such as strong perfumes, colognes) in the studio or the surrounding property. Free, pure drinking water from our home iSpring RCC7 filtration system is easily accessed with the easy-pour electric KitchenBoss Water dispenser. We provide a basin and drying rack for hand washing small laundry items. A coin Laundromat is 2 minutes away at Speedvale and Woolwich.
