Cottage 24 is an Addison Mizner original, built in 1928. Built the same year as the original Cloister, and designed by the same architect, this rental is truly a piece of Sea Island's history. This gorgeous home is mere steps away from the beach, sitting only one house back from Sea Island's 5 miles of beautiful, private coastline. The gardens and courtyards throughout this property are truly stunning. This spacious, 5 bedroom home is the ideal rental for families and friends to gather. The space Cottage 24 is an original Sea Island Cottage, built in 1928, the same year as the Cloister. This house is an Addison Mizner original, one of America’s most famous architects, who also designed the original Cloister, and is the same Spanish-style that was popular throughout coastal Georgia in the 1920s, and is replicated to this day. One of the highlights of the home is its proximity to Sea Island’s pristine beach. Located one house back from the beach, the house is only a few feet back from the 28th street beach access. The easy access to the beach, along with views of the ocean from the upstairs balcony and upstairs master bedroom, truly put your mind at ease. This gorgeous, 5-bedroom home, has plenty of space for family and friends to gather. The cottage was expanded and since has been renovated and updated. It is beautifully appointed with cozy and chic furniture, and tons of natural light throughout the home. This vibrant, spacious kitchen was recently renovated, and adds a bright and cheerful feel to the home. With white marble counter tops, barstool seating and updated appliances, the kitchen is within the heart of the home. Adjacent to the kitchen is a charming dining room, featuring an original fireplace from 1928, and a beautiful dining table. Should you need more dining space, the dining room lends way to the great room, which features a long wooden table that is a wonderful second dining table. The great room is in the heart of the home, and provides lots of seating, a comfy space to watch TV together, socialize, or play board games, and also allows guests to enjoy the beautiful garden views that can be seen throughout the room. For a more formal gathering space, or a separate adult space, the living room is located just off of the dining room. The living room is a vibrant room that features a Stroud piano, plenty of soft seating, lots of natural light, and more garden views. Located in between these rooms is the downstairs guest bathroom. This wing of the home also includes private office for you to use during your stay. The office features a Mac desktop that guests can log onto, if they would like to use a bigger screen during the stay. This cozy office is the perfect private space to get work or calls done during your stay. The first floor has three bedrooms, starting with the Master Bedroom, which is near the front entry of the home. The Master Bedroom features a king bed, plenty of natural light from the windows, a TV, and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a double vanity, plenty of space to get ready, and a separate shower and tub. The other two bedrooms on the first floor are adjacent to one another, and off a hallway by the kitchen. These bedrooms are typically where children choose to sleep. The first is a cozy, bunk room, featuring two twin, built-in bunk beds, and two additional twin beds (that are individual beds). This room features a TV as well. The next room has 3 full-size day beds—perfect for day time napping, or those that want their own room. These two bedrooms share a fun, colorful bathroom that features a shower. The front entry foyer lends to the beautiful staircase, that features original stain glass windows from 1928, on the landing that is half-way up the stairs. The second floor gives way to a gorgeous sitting room that has vaulted ceilings and gorgeous wooden beams, cozy furniture, and a stunning fireplace that features an original relief from 1928. This room is another great spot to sit and watch TV. The sitting room connects to a balcony that provides gorgeous views of the courtyard and gardens on the property, but the highlight is always the ocean view. This balcony is the perfect spot to read a book, drink a cup of coffee, take a call, or end the day with a cocktail, as the ocean breeze wraps around you. The second floor has two more bedrooms, including a second master bedroom. This master bedroom has ocean views from the windows, and features a queen bed and gorgeous furniture. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, that mirrors the downstairs master with a double vanity, shower, and separate tub. However, this bathroom also has a sit-down vanity space, that has an ocean view, providing the perfect space to get ready for the day or evening. The second floor is rounded out with the 5th bedroom, which features a queen bed, and lots of natural lighting emanating from the windows throughout the room. Aside from the proximity to the beach, the grounds on this property are beautiful. The mix of Spanish and Mediterranean architecture, coupled with the Italian villa feel of the trees and landscaping, will have you feeling that you have escaped to paradise as soon as you arrive. The property has a beautiful backyard, front yard, garden-esque entry, and two beautiful courtyards. The courtyard on the side of the home, near the kitchen entry, features a quaint and charming outdoor dining area. This house is a quintessential Sea Island home, combining Sea Island’s near 100-year history, with new, modern elements and the comforts of the 21st century. Sea Island has long been a favorite vacation spot as it is a 5-star, private island that features 5 miles of coastline and luxurious amenities ranging from the world renown Cloister, Lodge, 5-star Spa and 2 PGA Tour Championship Courses (Seaside and Plantation), Fitness and Tennis Center, Shooting School, Yacht Club, and incredible restaurants. Option to Purchase Sea Island Temporary Membership Cards: The home owner has a Sea Island Membership, thus Temporary Membership Cards can be arranged and purchased for renters, which grants them access to all Sea Island Amenities and gives them the ability to book activities, dining, spa, golf, etc with Sea Island. If the guest chooses to purchase temporary membership cards, the guest is charged the fees, as shown below: Adults (26+): $175 per adult, per day Children Under 26: $60 per child per day. Children are considered under 26 years old, not married, immediate children. (2 free children’s cards are provided per family, with the purchase of at least 1 adult card, per family that day.) Guests can pick and choose who in the group gets cards, and on what days. **Guests are required to purchase cards for consecutive days, no skipping dates in between (ie has to be the 6th - 8th, not the 6th and 8th.)** One person can book up to two tee times and one dining reservation for the same day with one card. Please reach out if you have questions or want more information on how temp member cards work. Example: A Family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 children under 26 will be charged the following on a daily basis for the days that they opt to purchase temp member cards: $175 per adult, per day and nothing for their 2 children, so their total would be $350 per day. If a family has 3 children under 26, the 3rd child would incur an additional $60 per day charge, for total of $410 per day to have temporary membership cards for everyone. Children under 7 are free and cannot have their own card. Children can receive their own card once they turn 7. Guest access Guests have full access to the home.
