Mountain house MINKA @Uskovnica

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay on Uskovnica, a truly special green place surrounded by nature on the top of Bohinj. 7 kilometres from Srednja vas, a laid-back area awaits you. The space House is located in hearth of Triglav National Park. It is reachable by car from village Srednja vas v Bohinju (7 km gravel road). House is from late 18th century and was active alpine dairy farm until 2018. Our grandma Minka and grandpa Rudi have been farming each year from May to October since they were young and thus farming has been part of family tradition (Alpine diary in Bohinj since 13th century) They have been known for good cheese, cottage cheese, "Mohant" (stinky cheese), sour milk and butter and own version of herbs & flowers schnapps. They used to have cattle (cows), pigs and chickens. The fairytale Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs represents Minka & Rudi and 7 grandkids and just like them, you can write your own fairytale! House has been updated through the years and has electricity, hot water - even wifi. All pots and pans, fridge and proper toilet & shower are there. Vast sitting area inside and outside and garden full of vegetable & salad for you to use. What a fresh taste! House offers privacy and is perfect for families - big playground all around and toys to play with (field, forest, mushrooms etc). Lots of hiking options to Julian Alps (see photos for tips). Welcome to house MINKA! Guest access Uskovnica mountain is perfect spot for start of hikes in Julian Alps - to highest Mt Triglav and many more (see photos for tips ). Lake Bohinj is 30 min drive, lake Bled 40 minutes drive. Bohinj valley offers a lot of natural and cultural attractions. And Slovenia is small, to the coast 2 hours drive. House is located at "Lom mountain pod Uskovnico" and there is only one neighbour across the street as you can see, just few more are hidden in the forest and you may only see/ hear a car passing by (and beeping to Rudi and Minka). 1 km walk takes you to Uskovnica panorama spot with Chapel, magnificent view and mountain hut (restaurant). Other things to note Tourist tax in the municipality of Bohinj is 2€ per person per night and 1€ for children aged 7-18. It is collected on site. The road to get to the house is gravel and it is suitable for most cars but not for some lowered sports cars.
