This adorable, classic Northwoods cabin has something for everyone! If you’re looking for a tranquil place to relax and get away from day-to-day stress, Barkberry at the River’s Edge has exactly what you need. This one bedroom cabin is tucked away on a 6 acre wooded lot, giving you all the peace & quiet you could hope for. You’ll find a well-outfitted kitchen, spacious screen porch, wood fireplace, spacious great room with soaring ceilings and plenty of hang out as well as dining space. Property Details You’ll fall in love with the cabin as soon as you pull off highway 13, stow your vehicle, and walk the short path to the cabin’s front door. The cabin sits nestled in a large wooded lot, making it feel like something out of a fairytale. The front door opens to a well-outfitted kitchen (which one would expect given the owner is a chef!). The cabin’s great room is just a few steps further inside - here you can dine at the table with room for the whole gang, lounge in front of the wood fireplace, or enjoy the view out the windows from the couch/futon that’s tucked away on the left side of the space. And if you’ve taken on kitchen duties, you won’t feel left out! The kitchen opens to the dining area and even has a breakfast bar for folks to sit and chat while admiring your culinary skills. The main floor has the cabin’s bathroom, which has a claw foot tub and shower. The short stairwell leads to the cabin’s loft bedroom. The bedroom is open to the rest of the cabin, but rest assured that the bed isn’t visible from below (for those who want to sleep in while others hang out below). The bedroom has a charming private balcony where you can enjoy morning coffee while looking out into the woods below. Our favorite feature of the cabin by far is the enormous screen porch! It runs the entire width of the cabin and is where we’d be spending most of our time on warm days & nights! No better way to enjoy the beauty of this area while avoiding pesky bugs. The screen porch has steps that lead down to the “back yard,” which has a charcoal grill and fire pit. If adventure is more your thing, you can brave the trail that will take you to the river’s edge, where a private beach and the area’s best kayaking & canoeing can be found! Yes, the cabin has access to Bark River & Bark Bay. But be forewarned that the trail gets overgrown, so getting to the water’s edge requires a thirst for a bit of adventure! For those less into bushwhacking, we’ll be happy to tell you how to get to the nearest beach (which is very, very close by). Barkberry at the River’s Edge is truly a special property that we know will capture a special place in your heart! The Area The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 35 minutes away, as is Washburn (where the largest grocery store is in the area). Ashland is about 45 minutes away (which has a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour and a bit away. Host Info Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties on Lake Superior's South Shore. She lives nearby and is available 24/7 to assist her guests. Our passion is ensuring guests experience the magic of what we feel is one of the most amazing places in the world. The South Shore The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S. Transit Info Due to the lack of public transportation and the distance between towns/amenities, a car is pretty much essential. But, on the plus side, traffic is not a concept we have up here!
