Description

Experience a rustic glamping adventure! Nestled on the border of Jay Cooke State Park (~15 min from Duluth), you will be surrounded by nature and wildlife, sheltered by the canvas ‘yurt’ and enjoy the night sky in a cozy bed. Located a short ~1/3 mile hike from your parking spot, there is a shared porta-potty (~200yrds away, but NO running water or shower), a small solar powered battery providing lights/limited power. This rental is NOT heated. Guests supply necessary water for their stay. The space “Birch Yurt”, a 16ft (200sq ft) Colorado Yurt built on a solid hardwood platform, sits nestled in the trees on the border of Jay Cooke State Park surrounded by a deep wooded ravine and meadow. From parking area, guests must walk in approximately 400 yards on a mowed grass/gravel path, across an open meadow to a wood chipped trail leading to yurt. A small cart is provided to bring your bags back to the yurt. If you are coming and going after dark, we recommend bringing a flashlight. Grounds are kept intentionally dark for star gazing. About the Property: The property is 8 acres with a mix of fields & forest. It borders Jay Cooke State Park, a deep ravine and neighboring farm fields. WHAT TO EXPECT STAYING IN A YURT: Our yurts provide a hybrid experience between camping and staying in a cabin, or ‘glamping’. Combining the best of both, you’re surrounded by nature and wildlife, sheltered by the canvas ‘yurt’ and sleeping in a comfortable king bed ( bedding provided). A solar power battery provides power for ambient lighting, a place to charge phones and plug in provided fan. A small washing station is provided just outside the yurt for hand washing/brushing teeth. Guests supply necessary water for their stay. BATHROOM(PORTA-POTTY): The yurt doesn’t have a true bathroom. There is a port-potty, approximately ~200 yards from yurt. This is shared with the other yurts on property. NO SHOWERS: There are NO showers on site. Guests often take advantage of area lakes and rivers to rinse off. MEAL PLANNING/FOOD STORAGE/EATING: Food is NOT permitted in yurts due to wildlife. Please check out our guidebook on the AirBNB app for excellent local places to eat. We do not allow camp cook stoves, due to fire dangers. BEVERAGES: Unlike food, beverages are permitted in yurt. Guest access Guest will have access to yurt, meadow and porta potty. Trails on property lead to our other rentals. Please inquire, we will gladly show you unoccupied rentals if you’re interested. Please respect neighboring properties and do not go down other driveways or enter neighbors fields. Other things to note No eating or food storage is allowed in the yurt. This helps keep wildlife away and the yurts clean for our guest. Most of our guest eat meals in town. Beverages are permitted in yurt. No smoking, camp cooking or fires permitted on the entire property. Guests need to provide their own water. (Drinking, brushing teeth, light washing….) With proximity to nature, you may experience occasional insects in yurt, despite regular cleaning to deter.
