Description
HIGHLANDS AND ISLAND’S THISTLE AWARD WINNER 2025 - 'BEST SELF CATERING OR UNIQUE STAY' Climb the handmade rustic outdoor staircase up to a cosy bolthole just for two. The Loft on the Croft has a Highland outdoor theme inspired by our own adventures and travels. Our newest property at Big Sky, the Loft was designed and hand built by Jonny and Ailsa. The space Open plan, with a hand-made king size bed, cosy wood burning stove, and a handy compact kitchen with breakfast bar and beautiful dining table. The space is lit by a row of skylights providing wonderful light during the day, and glowing copper pendants at night. The colours and textures of the Highland landscape are reflected in the green, white and wood colour scheme, locally woven textiles and furnishings. Look out over the swaying tree tops as you have your morning coffee or soak in the roll top bath while you watch the stars through the skylight. You can even spot our local Munro, Ben Wyvis, from the deck at the top of the stairs. A few pieces of carefully selected vintage and whisky barrel furniture, plus a beautiful bathroom with rainfall shower, fabulous bath and bespoke concrete sink with vintage sewing table make the space pretty special. Back down the stairs and hidden at the back you’ll find a secret garden with a charcoal BBQ, fire pit area and outdoor dining space on the deck. Guest access You will have access to the whole upper floor and the secret garden at the bottom the stairs. Downstairs is our store and small on site gift shop which has a washing machine you are welcome to use, just ask! Other things to note The Loft is located above our store but has good sound insulation. It's quite near to our own house, Big Sky HQ, so you may hear our young family playing in the garden, but we will give you plenty of privacy during your stay. The loft is accessed via an external flight of stairs so if you have mobility issues you may wish to take a look at our other cabins instead. All have ramp access and bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor. We are located just 10 miles North of Inverness so are in the perfect countryside location to explore the city and the whole of the Highlands. The village of Muir of Ord is only two miles away. It has a small supermarket, butcher, baker, pub, garage and two very nice cafes. Registration Details HI-20297-F
