NOW AVAILABLE YEAR ROUND! We have a cozy, smoke-free, pet free, 2 bedroom (+ sofa bed) 4 season cottage set on 10+ acres on the Northumberland Strait in Cape Tormentine, NB. Enjoy the view of the Confederation Bridge as well as sunrises & sunsets from the cottage, deck or cliff side. Centrally located for all your Maritime sight seeing attractions (1 hour drive to Moncton & a short drive to Nova Scotia or PEI). No minimum number of nights or cleaning fee. On-going updating of amenities. The space OUTSIDE: Explore the wide open expanse of the property. Although our home is also on the large property, it is positioned away from the cottage and does not impact on the open space around the cottage. Sit back and watch the local wildlife as they do their own exploring of the property. In the summertime: Enjoy the outdoors by using some of the provided outdoor games (such as badminton, volleyball, lawn darts, horseshoes) or bring your own. Bring your kite and take advantage of the winds in the vast open space. Use the stairs down the cliff to the shore. The stairs may be removed during the winter months, so depending on the weather, stairs may not be reinstalled until late May or early June. Take a swim in the Northumberland Strait. During low tide, take a walk along the beach as you search for sea glass and sea shells. Or play in the sand. In April-May and October-November, you can legally dig clams . At high tide, fish off the rocks on the beach. Or join the locals at the nearby wharf for fishing. No license is required for fishing in tidal waters. Talk to Terry for advice or assistance in clamming or fishing. Explore the wooded area on the property. Or take a walk along the lane way and pick wild raspberries and blackberries when in season. Wild strawberries grow in various spots of the open area of the property. The deck is ideal to sit back and relax with your favourite beverage while you enjoy the view of the Northumberland Strait with PEI across the strait and the Confederation Bridge off to the left. Watch the local fishing boats coming and going to/from the nearby wharf as well as the occasional cruise ship passing by. In addition to the local birds, ducks and geese, you may also spot an occasional seal. Closer views now available from the chairs on the platform leading to the beach stairs. Enjoy watching sunrises and sunsets. On land, you may encounter some of the local wildlife as they explore the property. Once the sun goes down, spend some time star gazing with the telescope. And then relocate to the fire pit area (if Fire Burn restrictions allow) to enjoy a fire. (Bring your own wood, or purchase bundles from the nearby campground.) In the wintertime: Bring your own snowshoes or cross country skis to enjoy the great outdoors. Or just go for walks to enjoy the fresh country air. If you choose to stay indoors, there are books, puzzles and games as well as a TV equipped with several streaming services. To keep you warm, there is the minisplit as well as baseboard heaters and a space heater. (We lived in the cottage in the winter 2024/25 and were quite comfortable.) Guest access Guests have full access to the 2 bedroom cottage and the area around the cottage, including outdoor furniture, games, fire pit and BBQ. This does NOT give permission to set up tents, campers, etc for additional guests on any part of the property. Overnight guests are to be limited to the number stated in the reservation. Guests found to violate this will be requested to vacate the property (without refund) and/or subject to a fee ($50 per tent and $100 per camper trailer) for each night. The garage, our house, machinery, boat and other vehicles, buildings and amenities are not available to guests. There is also a camper parked on the property for our family use when staying on the property. It is parked in a location to not impact on our guests. A family friend may also have his trailer parked at the edge of the woods but will not have impact on our guests. Other things to note 1) Please be honest in your booking as to the number of guests. If the reservation indicates only 1 adult, that is all that we plan for. If the reservation is for 6 people, we would ensure there is sufficient bedding and other amenities available. 2) AirBNB policy does not permit the rental being used for parties or large gatherings. 3) As of July 1, 2022 Canadian tax laws require that GST be applied to AirBNB rentals. AirBNB will add that fee on to the posted rental price. 4) The No Pets Policy is due to allergies. 5) Legere Legacy is not just a rental cottage. It is a cottage actively used by extended family and made available to guests when not being used by family. The accommodations and decor is that of a well loved family cottage, not an impersonal, sterile, hotel with minimal facilities. If your expectations are for a minimalist/sterile or high-end hotel-like experience you may be disappointed. But if you want a cozy, well loved family vacation home, this is the place for you. We may not provide a mint on your pillow, but we have a candy bowl in the living room. And we offer a fantastic view of the Northumberland Strait and the Confederation Bridge as well as unbelievable sunrises and sunsets. When equipping the cottage for guests, we have tried to provide everything we would want/expect to have provided as a guest. Please let us know if we have overlooked anything. Any items in the cupboards and refrigerator are available for use by guests - if they so wish. It is difficult to show the beauty of the area in the photos. Seeing is believing. Come see for yourself!
