Description

The Tram; a place of peace and tranquility 30k from New Plymouth. Self-contained, off-grid (solar 12v, usb charging only) PLANT-BASED bush hideaway on an animal sanctuary. 80m walk across paddock. Fabulous views. Bask in the wood-fired hot tub (DIY-easy instructions). Relax by the potbelly fire or firepit. Wake to the sound of birds and roosters. Odour-free composting toilet. Fully equipped kitchen (plant-based cooking only, NO ANIMALPRODUCTS). Mobile coverage, no WiFi. lgbtqia+ friendly The space Your senses are filled from all directions; from the deck, take in the rural view to the ocean from 450m up. To your right the hot tub awaits; the surrounding bush hugs the back of The Tram. If you listen carefully you may hear the sound of bell birds and tui and the little mountain stream as it makes it way down the valley. Revitalise your body and mind as you take in the tranquil bush view from the full length glass wall in the shower. To your left the bush opens out into the home paddock where our friends, the piggie girls, friendly goats, alpacas and scratching roosters graze. Sorry no dogs allowed. Guest access Access to the Tram is through our home paddock; about an 80 metre stroll (we have a trolley available for luggage if needed). In the wetter months be sure to bring your gumboots (we have boot covers and a variety of boots available) you'll find rain ponchos in the bag on the coat rack. The hot tub is wood-fired (DIY). Instructions are included in The Tram's house manual or we are happy to advise/ help. There are cute umbrella hats, a flickering lamp for hot tub atmosphere, ponchos and a picnic rug in the bag on the coat rack on the deck. We are happy to introduce you to our animal residents. Please don't feed them, ignore the pleading looks! Other things to note We live in a beautiful rain forest. Access to The Tram is across our home paddock (about an 80 metres stroll), gumboots are the best footwear through the wetter seasons, don't forget your coat! We do have a good selection of boots we can lend; please ask about your size or we have waterproof boot covers. The Tram is 450m up of the side of a mountain range; the pot belly ensures The Tram is warm. It can get cold out in the winter months; pack some warm clothes. Please be aware there are a few beautiful spider's webs on the outside of the tram (we rehome all inside spiders to the bush). Being vegan we live and let live. We really like spiders and don't like breaking their homes. Their webs are also wonderful to catch any biting insects. We especially love the one on the outside of the shower glass, she is a harmless orb web. It's important to us to respect every living being's place in our world and don't feel it is our place to devalue their worth. We believe for the sake of our planet sharing space with all beings is extremely important. There are other bugs that make their home in the surrounding bush that you might encounter like wetas. If you are concerned please don't harm them, message us and we will come and rehome it.
