Originally built in 1804, Birdsong is a Goan villa that has been lovingly & painstakingly restored by our family. Each of our 6 guest suites has a sprawling bathroom and is entirely unique in design. The villa also includes a beautiful courtyard swimming-pool, common spaces and lush greenery. The Kitchen whips up delicious meals, and our housekeeping team ensures your comfort. Birdsong is an idyllic setting for family reunions, group retreats, special occasions & peaceful escapes from the city. The space Originally built in 1804, we acquired this beautiful Goan home in 2009 and our renovations were complete in 2012. Keeping the skeleton of the house intact, we introduced new design elements and upgraded existing ones. Today, our beautiful home includes a nine bedroom villa, a courtyard swimming pool, a pool house, and the lush greenery that surrounds it all. Our six guest suites are all located on the ground floor, and each is unique in its layout and design. Room One has a ground floor bedroom as well as a gorgeous wooden loft with its own double bed. Privacy is the name of the game in spacious Room Two, which has the most aesthetic bathroom in the house. Room Three is much-coveted as it includes a main bedroom, an attic with a double bed and a sun room. Room Four is a family favorite courtesy its inbuilt bunk bed. Room Five has its very own sitting room. And Room Six is not only bright and airy, but it also has a bay window with a daybed. Birdsong has an assortment of common areas for guests to choose from too. The main hall, with its towering ceiling, comfortable furniture and grand art, can easily accommodate all the residents of the house. The deck and garden are perfect to enjoy a lazy day of dips in the pool and naps under the trees. The pool house is where we eat our meals, have a drink or settle in for a movie night. And then there is the front porch and the garden, both of which are lovely spaces to enjoy your morning tea. Operations at Birdsong are managed by our wonderful and dedicated team of six. Our two members of kitchen staff create fresh and delicious meals, including the hearty breakfast that is included in your per night tariff. Our three housekeeping ladies provide daily cleaning and turndown services; and our groundskeeper tends to the plants, the pond and the pool. Waste management is a major concern in Goa and our team is making efforts to segregate waste at the source. All kitchen waste generated at Birdsong is fed to our ‘hot pile’ bulk composter, while a garden heap takes care of leaves and clippings. We also segregate cardboard, plastic bottles and glass items, which are sent for recycling. Birdsong is idyllic for nature lovers and artists. The house is often fragrant with the smell of blooming flowers, which also colour the landscape. The front pond is home to frogs, fish, snails and water skaters. Butterflies and dragonflies flit about the air all day, and the bird song is truly sublime. Orioles, pittas, munias, drongos, leaf birds, fantails, thrushes - the keen birder will be able to create a long checklist without ever leaving the grounds . A neighboring stand of sal trees protects the villa on one side, while within our gates stand cheekoo, jackfruit, breadfruit, champa, harsingar and moringa trees. Any introduction to Birdsong is incomplete without a note on its art and curios. The house has a plethora of paintings, linocuts, sculptures, masks, plates and artifacts collected over three decades from across India and the world. Birdsong is your base for relaxed holidays, where staying in is just as tempting as stepping out. This is the vacation on which you can lounge by the pool and detox in our steam room, read for hours in the afternoon or go for a meandering walk in the village. Cherish a romantic escape with your partner or reunite with family and friends. We’re close enough to the action if you need a night out about town, and far enough from the bustle if all you want is tranquility. Guest access Guests will have access to the complete ground floor, all suites with en-suite bathrooms and private vestibules, all property gardens and grounds, swimming-pool, pool-house, deck, gym and steam rooms. Other things to note NO STAG GROUPS We do not accept bookings for all-male groups. Men must be accompanied by women, children or elderly. ONLINE BOOKINGS ONLY Please do not make requests for offline bookings. We prefer all our communication through the app. EARLY CHECK-IN / LATE CHECK-OUT If you require an early check-in or late check-out, please inform us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate it. Without prior notice, it will not be possible. STAFF & SERVICE Our Manager is on call to answer questions and help guests with anything you may need. We have a team of 5 Housekeeping girls who clean the house daily. We also have a resident chef, as well as a Handyman/Gardener/Groundsman on-call, present at the property. FOOD & KITCHEN Our in-house resident chef churns out fresh and delicious meals for our guests. Breakfast is included in your stay. Other than that, there are daily fixed menus (Lunch & Dinner) at an over-and-above cost, that need to be ordered a day in advance. LAUNDRY SERVICES We employ the services of a local laundry, where your clothes can be washed for an over and above charge. Our team can organise this for you. MUSIC AND NOISE Birdsong is located in the heritage village of Moira. As responsible neighbors, we are committed to maintaining the tranquility of our village, and expect our guests to do the same. Quiet hours begin at 10 PM. PETS ON PROPERTY Birdsong is a family home, and our two Indie dogs ‘Begum’ and ‘Chikki’ live here with us. They are friendly, well-behaved and spend the majority of their time in the family quarters, upstairs. BIO-DIVERSITY AND BUGS We have taken great efforts to nurture our grounds, and welcome the biodiversity that a thriving garden invites. A frog or insect may occasionally enter a bedroom, especially during the monsoon. Should this happen, our staff has been trained to safely (and non–violently) remove the critter and release it outside. Registration Details HOTN005505
