House of the Setting Sun/Deal Island Bayfront Home
Description
Soak up the quiet beauty of Tangier Sound at this bayfront getaway with stunning sunset views among the pines. Enjoy crabbing, fishing, and swimming off the dock. Dive into nature photography, birdwatching, hunting, kayaking in the wetlands, and more. There's a small local beach less than 5 minutes away. It's far enough away to unplug, but less than an hour to Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Assateague. And there's plenty to enjoy onsite, including sunsets 9 months out of the year! The space The house features a sunlit open floor plan with a modern kitchen and sunroom, both overlooking the bay, and those beautiful sunsets (a rare sight on the East Coast!). The master bedroom with a queen-sized bed has an en suite bathroom and water view. There's a 2nd bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and trundle bed; and a smaller bedroom with a bunk bed (twin-over-full sized) and small flatscreen TV; the sunroom also has a full-sized futon (though it doesn't have a door). Cozy family room with a wood-burning pellet stove, 2 large couches, lazy boy, as well as a flat-screen TV with cable and streaming, and a stocked board game cabinet. Both TVs have Firesticks for streaming as well as cable. Guest access You'll have access to the entire main house and living spaces. You'll also have shared access to the dock (guests at our sister property up the lane, The Waterview Cottage, also have access which they use occasionally). You'll have access to grounds in front of the house (by the water), as well as directly alongside and in back. The only exceptions are the garage, which is closed off for storage, and the pool & pool house, which are closed off for renovations. Other things to note They say Deal Island "isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from here." That's what makes it such a special place to stay, but make sure you bring everything you need so you don't need to take unnecessary trips out. The nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away in Princess Anne. The tap water is drinkable and safe for bathing, and dishwashing, but because it's heavy in minerals, most guests prefer to bring their own water in.
