At Sunset RidgeView, take in a western view of the Appalachian and Allegheny Mountain range and enjoy a spacious renovated lower level space with your own private entrance. Just minutes from downtown Harrisonburg and James Madison University in a serene country setting in the Shenandoah Valley. Ideal location for hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, JMU, or just a visit! The space is a generous 1,200 sq ft private basement suite, with our family of three residing on the upper level of the home. The space You are greeted with a large entry room, able to store any gear with seats and hooks to put on shoes and hang coats. The open concept lower level living area includes a spacious area for comfortable living. A cozy sitting corner for morning coffee or evening read includes built in bookcase with books, games and puzzles, a large wood burning fireplace with instructions for use and a smart tv which has signed in Guest use for Apple TV, Netflix, and Disney+. Enjoy the outdoor fire pit as you sip and relax. The outdoor table and chairs (seasonal) and gazebo are for your use. The fully stocked kitchen has a full-size fridge, stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher and a fully stocked kitchen supplied for cooking including olive oil, salt, sugar, pots and pans. Enjoy the many options for your morning coffee: french press, pour over, Keurig and drip coffee maker (starter coffee is provided) as well as assorted tea bag options with an electric goose neck tea kettle. Plenty of shelving and an eat in island seating two. Dining table seats 4. One full bathroom with shower only and inset seat. Large vanity cabinet and eco option flush toilet. Two large bedrooms. One with a full size and a twin and the other with a queen bed. Each have an upholstered chair, wall mirrors, hooks, as well as dresser and/or closet with shelving and hanging rod. All windows have extra large window wells that bring in a lot of light in this lower level space, but for the mountain views you will step outside. There is central air conditioning and heat although the thermostat is not available for guest access. To supplement we have fans and portable heaters available. We also have 2 very friendly indoor rescue hound dogs that stay on a leash when outside. Owners live upstairs so please be consider of noise and be aware of the quiet hours. Look for the guest sign and stairwell down to the lower level space. Please note you will need to navigate 15 steps down (with handrail) to get to the entry door. Other things to note Our home includes a ceramics studio which is where I make potter as Muddy Creek Ceramics . Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in taking a souvenir home from the Shenandoah Valley. The entry room from the outside is shared with owner to access this pottery studio at times behind privacy screen. This is a rare occasion and only as needed. Doors to your main space beyond entry room are for guests only and are lockable.
