Description

Van Reed Island is a historic and romantic three acre private island, with a four-bedroom summer home located on its highest point, just east of Stout's Island Lodge on Red Cedar Lake in Northwest Wisconsin. Van Reed's spacious 2,200 square-foot summer home, with expansive wraparound outdoor decks, is perfect for a unique romantic couple’s getaway, or gatherings of families, friends, or multiple couples. A pontoon rental is included for those that do not bring their own boat(s). The space This charming summer house features 4 bedrooms (5 beds), 1 full and one 1/4 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, and sunroom. Spacious decks surround the cabin on nearly all sides. There is currently an A-Frame building that is connected to the cabin that is not currently in use, but which will be a lodging option for children in the near future. Guest access Guests will be able to access the entire cabin, and they will enjoy private access to the 3 acres of gorgeous wooded grounds and hundreds of acres of private shoreline. The island features easy access to Stout's Island Lodge by boat. There is a swim raft serving the island. Other things to note Guests have full access to Stout's Island Lodge (built in 1903), subject to only a few dates (below) when Stout's is entirely reserved for private events. Stout's is one of the premiere National Historic Landmark Adirondack-style great camps in the Midwest. Some amenities to enjoy are the lodge's award-winning restaurant, the boathouse game room, the Great Room (including a bar and plenty of books and boardgames), Boathouse (with ample fishing supplies), canoes, kayaks, water bikes, clay tennis court, croquet lawn, labyrinth, swim areas, and much more. Please see the resort's website for additional information. The Lodge's three islands are located in the middle of six mile long Red Cedar Lake, a stunning lake located in northwestern Wisconsin, just a few miles from Birchwood and Rice Lake, and approximately two hours from the Twin Cities by vehicle. It is a part of a chain of three interconnected lakes that cover over 3,500 acres. Red Cedar Lake is the largest lake in this chain, covering over 1,800 acres and boasting over 37 miles of shoreline. Red Cedar is named after the red cedar trees that are found in the surrounding area. You can guess where the adjacent Balsam and Hemlock Lakes got their name. The lake's clear, clean water is perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. It is home to a variety of fish species, including walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass, making it a popular destination for anglers. Note that several of the photos depict Stout's Island Lodge amenities. The descriptions state as much. Dates that the Stout's Island Lodge resort amenities are not available to Van Reed Island guests due to Stout's being reserved for a private event: June 2-3, August 4-5, August 27-28, September 15-16.
