It winds around beautifully manicured horse farms, the rolling hills of the Kentucky River Valley, and the famous Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. Nestled in the woods, your stay will be private, quiet, and serene. All this and still inside the great city of Lexington! While there's no transit nearby, you'll be about 15 minutes from everything you need. Kroger, Walmart, gas stations, and tons of restaurants. Jacks Creek is close to I-75 as well.    A BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT THE HOUSE AT JACKS CREEK... In 1984, at the age of 26, Mark Miller bought these 8 acres on Jacks Creek Pike. With little money and no credit, he purchased the property on a land contract. While saving up money, Mark lived in a run-down trailer at the bottom of the property for 3 years. During that time, he single-handedly cleared a portion of the land for the house using just a chainsaw and lots of determination. Mark convinced his aunt, who worked at a bank, to push a construction loan through so he could start the build and in 1987, he was able to contract a bulldozer to dig out the basement.    Mark drafted his vision and design of the house and sent the plans to several log companies. He chose Stone Mill out of Knoxville, TN. to custom cut specific logs. Using cranes, Stone Mill carefully lowered the logs onto the foundation of the great room and temporarily set the roof trusses using 2x4 bracing. Mark and his father finished the roof decking using 100 year old long leaf pine that Mark scored from a Jim Beam Distillery rick house floor in Cincinnati, OH. With a simple kitchen spatula, Mark spread Permachink between each and every log in order to seal the home. He and his dad framed up the house and completed each aspect from the plumbing to electric, fixtures to paint, and dream to reality. A few years after completion, Mark decided he needed a place to work on his collection of 1940s and 50s Chevy trucks. Once again, Mark designed and drafted a plan for the 5 car detached garage and literally built it by himself. He even built a car port on the backside to store his boats. This guy thought of everything! Mark lived at Jacks Creek for almost 40 years. He raised one of his sons here, made life-long friends with the neighbors, and watched Jacks Creek Pike develop into the beauty it is today. Mark mastered the art of building his own home using his vision, talent, and unparalleled craftsmanship that will undoubtedly last for many generations. We are excited that we can now offer the home for visitors to enjoy during their stay in Lexington. We're glad you're here and by all means... make yourselves at home! ~Written by Maura Fabulous (Mark's fiance!)
