Description
Step into history on a magnificent 2,000-acre Gilded Age estate designed by the legendary Olmsted Brothers. Pine Cottage offers exclusive access to original 1913 carriage roads, a stunning stone arch bridge, private trails through old-growth forest, and a secluded spring-fed pond. Hike, swim, stargaze, or simply absorb the profound peace of having the entire estate all to yourself. Perfect for writers, artists, photographers, and anyone craving a true escape and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The space The Space Pine Cottage is a private studio cabin set within the estate—simple, comfortable, and full of character. • Sleeping loft with king-size bed • Full-size pull-out sofa and cozy daybed • Wood-burning stove for a warm, relaxed atmosphere (plus electric heat) • Retro-inspired 1950s kitchen, thoughtfully updated • Full bath with shower and classic porcelain soaking tub It’s an easy, comfortable place to return to after a day outdoors—designed more for living simply than luxury, and all the better for it. ________________________________________ The Estate Experience What sets Pine Cottage apart is not just the cottage—but the extraordinary land surrounding it. You’ll have exclusive access to the entire 2,000-acre estate: • Miles of private hiking and biking trails • Original Olmsted-designed carriage roads • A stunning historic stone arch bridge • Majestic 1913 mansion • A secluded, spring-fed swimming pond (floaties included) • Rolling fields, forests, and quiet meadows • Historic structures dating from the 1800s through the 1920s • Seasonal pastures with grazing sheep There are no other guests on the property. Just space, quiet, and a rare sense of freedom. (Please note: the mansion and outbuildings are not open for entry but can be enjoyed from the surrounding grounds.) ________________________________________ For You & Your Dog This is one of the rare places where dogs can truly enjoy the outdoors alongside you. Open land, quiet trails, and room to roam—far from roads and crowds. Dogs are welcome with advance notice. For the safety of wildlife and livestock, they must be well-behaved and supervised at all times, especially around the estate’s sheep and Marcus, our resident sheep protecting donkey. ________________________________________ Guest Access & Amenities • Drive directly to the cottage • Private deck, outdoor grill, and fire pit • Full kitchen and bathroom • High-speed WiFi at the cottage Everything you need—without taking away from the feeling of being off the map. ________________________________________ A Rare Kind of Place Places like this are increasingly hard to find. A historic estate of this scale - completely private, quietly maintained, and open to explore - is something most people never experience. Guests often say it feels less like renting, and more like being entrusted with a truly special place. ________________________________________ Good to Know Dogs welcome (please notify us in advance; must be supervised, especially near the sheep and Marcus, our resident sheep protecting donkey) • Some GPS apps may show Delancey, Delhi, or Andes—we are in the Town of Bovina (all routes will get you here) • Gravel roads on the property are well-maintained and suitable for standard vehicles • Cell service is limited (high speed WiFi available at the cottage) • Wildlife is abundant—deer, turkey, grouse, porcupines, and occasionally bear • The property is actively managed for conservation—please respect posted boundaries • The swimming pond is natural and unsupervised; swim at your own risk ________________________________________ Why Guests Love It Because places like this are almost gone. And because it’s one of the rare places where you, your dog, and the land itself can all feel completely at ease. Guest access Guests can drive right up to Pine Cottage and have exclusive access to the entire 2,000-acre estate during their stay. Other things to note Please be aware that some map apps show different towns where Pine Cottage is located in. Some apps may show the town of Delancey while another may say Delhi or Andes. All will get you there, even though we're actually in the beautiful Town of Bovina! We now have a sheep and a shepherd who tends to them for a few hours every day. Feel free to go visit the sheep and their guard donkey, Marcus. Just be mindful of him (no petting, as he's a professional as opposed to a pet) and the ELECTRIC wire fencing enclosing them! - Gravel roads on property—but suitable for all vehicles - No cell service in some areas (High speed WiFi available at the cottage) - Wildlife present—including deer, turkey, grouse, porcupines, occasional bear - Property is actively managed for conservation - Please respect all posted boundaries - Swimming pond is natural—no lifeguard, swim at own risk
