Private Ocean Cottage and Bird Sanctuary/4 Kayaks

This is a totally secluded oceanfront property within two bird sanctuaries. Spot king fishers, cormorants, and bald eagles. Paddle with the 4 provided kayaks to 3 private beaches. Enjoy the fire pit, BBQ, dock, and screened gazebo. Accommodations include AC and Wifi. Beach-hop for the day; from a quieter National Park/Kejimkujik Seaside, Port Joli, Louis Head, Crescent, Carter's Beach Meadows, Summerville, Whitepoint, and many unmapped beaches in between! Clamming and qua hogging in the area. The space Drive down a lane and come out to a clearing that’s surrounded by the sea on both sides. This property is on a peninsula within a double cove and double bird sanctuary; the water is warmer and pleasant for swimming. Across the ocean bay is forested silence. There are no neighbours. There is no traffic or noise other than wildlife. You will find a very special place that’s private and separate from others. The new dock and deck are an excellent way to access the shoreline; you can launch any of the 4 kayaks or swim and snorkel. This location provides the ability to take different kinds of day trips; a national and provincial park are nearby (3 km to Thomas Randall Provincial Park), hike at Keji Seaside Adjunct (Port Joli) or take a few Exits to the most popular beaches in NS (Carter’s, Summerville, White Point, Louis Head, Crescent, Rissers, Beach Meadows and Roseway). Hop in the kayaks and land on a beach to forage for clams and mussels (approx. 1/2 hour kayak around the bay). Trips to whale watching in Digby, or Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, and the historical town of Shelburne are all doable day trips. There are lots of festivals throughout the summer in both Shelburne and Liverpool. The property is down to earth, decorated, with natural tones and beach findings, water-colour paintings, and some antiques. The master bedroom loft (above the kitchen), second upper loft, living room, and kitchen ALL provide great window views of the ocean cove and opposite shoreline. In the Kitchen: tea/ground coffee/coffee whitener/sugar/salt/pepper/ typical spices/ Ice cream maker/kitchenaid mixer/juicer/Ninja blender! There are lots of pots and pans and everything you’d need to make a feast or a dessert. There is lots of cutlery/dishes/glassware/cooler/plastic dishes/thermos/ etc. to go on a picnic. The livingroom has lots of music/toys/books/and movies. To stay comfortable there is a wooden stove/chopped wood/ heat pump-AC/smaller heaters/and fans. The second sleep space is in a hidden loft above the living room and accessed by ladder. Use the main living space and air mattresses if you chose not to use the low ceiling loft. Older children love the secluded roof top space! Note: Parents with very young children can also use the livingroom space and air mattress provided (behind the master bed). People with mobility issues (stairs) should consider other accommodations or use the main bedroom or air mattress. The washroom has a shower and a few items in case you forget yours; e.g. shampoo and soaps. There are ample towels provided and also a basket of beach towels. The first aid kit is in the bathroom. The fire extinguisher is by the stove. Use the provided safety kits/life vests/rope/bailer/and whistle for kayaking. Guest access There is ample space for parking several vehicles. There are 4 kayaks. Adult vests and paddles, snorkel gear, goggles, umbrella, water shoes, and extra chairs are provided. The gazebo has a dining table/6 chairs. A rustic fire pit has been added to the property, the folding chairs are on the woodpile. Please check for fire bans on-line after 2 pm! Other things to note I am sometimes available to show you where to quahog or forage for clams. Should you run out of PROPANE there is a canister inside the kitchen cupboard and just contact us to replace the 2nd tank or there may be a second tank in the storage area outside.
