The Dragon House

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.Former hotel now offering Big House, self-catering accommodation for large groups and families. The Dragon House is situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park, around four miles from the village of Dunster in Somerset. Formerly a pub and hotel (and retaining many of the original features) this fabulous grade II listed manor house provides an ideal base to explore Exmoor and the surrounding area. The space Having seen service in the past 300 years as a Methodist meeting house, pub and hotel, this fabulous grade II listed Manor House offers a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, a magnificent oak-beamed lounge with inglenook fireplace and your own cosy bar area with open fire, opening into a games room with pool table. Also a spacious hot tub in the courtyard . The wood-panelled dining room is adjacent to the lounge and has plenty of space for 20 people. There is a bright, sunny conservatory leading off the bar area, an ideal place to enjoy breakfast whilst overlooking the slate-cobbled courtyard and gardens. Through the stylish hallway, the stairway leads to the first and second floors where the bedrooms are situated - all within-suites On the first floor: 2 x family suites, a family room and a double room. On the second floor: A double room and a kids bunk room. Also on the 2nd floor: kids games room with table football, TV, beanbags, books and games. In all we provide 18 bed-spaces for a 16 guests to use as they wish There are also 2 garden (double) rooms (shown in the listing as bedrooms 7&8). Theses can be added for a small extra charge, allowing total occupancy of 20. If you want more space, or more guests, Wisteria Cottage can usually be rented at the same time giving a max group size/occupancy of up to 24. There is a large lawn, sun drenched courtyard and shady trees; plus a front garden area and further family garden with plenty of room for ball games. In the immediate vicinity, there are a host of activities, including historic Dunster Castle, a day at the beach at Blue Anchor and rides on the spectacular West Somerset steam train to Minehead, and further afield are the picturesque coastal resorts of Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth. Guest access The Dragon House is your own large house for the duration of your stay. When we converted the house from a Hotel we retained the commercial kitchen, which is great for budding or wannabe chefs We have also kept the bar and this is usually the favourite room with the adult guests! We do not have a charging point for electric cars at the Dragon House . There is charging station in Minehead which is 15mn away. If you plug your car through a normal plug at the property £20  will be charged by day ( to be paid at the property on departure) Other things to note The Dragon House shares the courtyard and gardens with our other small, 2-bed, holiday cottage sleeping up to 4 people in 2 x double rooms. This is only ever let in conjunction with The Dragon House. If you want more space, or more guests, Wisteria Cottage can usually be rented at the same time giving a max group size/occupancy of up to 24.
