The space This rental is a one bedroom apartment on ground level of a two flat; guests have the whole apartment and a private entrance. Steps away from popular bars and restaurants in West Town and Ukrainian Village. It has an open floor plan and is simple, bright, and comfortable. Second bed is a pull out couch. The kitchen is stocked with oven, range, toaster, blender and other basic cooking needs. We use eco-friendly cleaning and laundry products throughout. We live on site in the upstairs apartment and there is one additional rental apartment in our three unit building. We welcome guests looking for a quiet respite to explore the city. No parties or guests outside of those on the reservation. We are an artist / professor (Jonas) and arts and culture administrator working in art museums (Claire). We are in the heart of Ukrainian Village and west town neighborhoods. We are just two blocks south of Chicago Ave where you can find some of the cities best restaurants, coffee and bars. This neighborhood is also central for some of the cities’s best art venues with Fine Art galleries in walking distance and some great local music venues very nearby. We have a robust guidebook with some of our favorites. We are 15 minute walk to center of west town shops and restaurants. 20 minute walk to center of Bucktown shops and restaurants. We have come to understand through our years of hosting and traveling that there are many kinds of hosts and many sets of expectations from guests. On the host end, that ranges from big businesses with hundreds of properties to families sharing their home. On the guest end, that ranges from those wanting an upscale hotel experience with the addition of a kitchen to those looking to get a local’s experience of a city. So it's important to understand where we are within the rental ecosystem: The apartment is one of 3 units in the building we own and live in, not a unit run by a big property manager or a full time Airbnb host. We take pleasure in hosting, and are proactive and responsive in communicating with our guests.  We expect courteousness and kindness in our interactions, and for you to take care of and respect our place like it’s your home – leave things as you found them and save the birthday bashes for the hotels.  We offer a clean, comfortable space to relax and enjoy being in the heart of our favorite neighborhood in the city, personable hosting, and good food recommendations. Parking: There is ample free street parking, though you must read the signs carefully as some streets are permit only - guests have found parking easily. Public transit options: 66 bus to downtown stops a block away. It connects to the red line and brown line of the metro. Takes 20-30 minutes to Michigan Ave. Metro blue line is a 15-20 minute walk. Divvy city bike station on the corner. Guest access You enter the apartment through the side door on damen. Parking is street parking - it is plentiful and we usually find a spot within a block. No dedicated parking spot is included with the rental. These are in full sized bottles not single use hotel style bottles in order to reduce waste. We provide Meyers and similar environmentally friendly products in the kitchen. If you have specific needs or allergies please reach out. Linens: Our bath linens are Lands End 100% Supima Cotton. The bed linens are a premium California Design 100% Cotton sheets. We wash linens with bleach between each guest.
