Umthi Lodge: Wildlife, Pool, Power Inverter

Umthi Lodge is a guesthouse on a private nature reserve in South Africa, with views of wild game all around. Situated on the unspoiled natural coastline of the Eastern Cape, with private access to a beautiful beach and lagoon. Sleeps 8 people plus a cot bed. Free unlimited high speed WiFi. The pool is heated all year round, and the house has a Tesla battery and solar system to ensure it always has reliable energy supply. Note: We don't accept bookings of large groups for a weekend. The space The guesthouse has four well designed bedrooms for 8 people to sleep in comfort. The guesthouse provides three bathrooms (2 en-suite) and a downstairs guest toilet. The flexible, open-plan architecture provides large reception areas that open onto a pool deck. The guesthouse has been furnished to the highest standards to guarantee a perfect restful break in the beauty of nature. The house has a heated pool all year round. The use of the pool is at your own risk and a net cover is available if you have small children. There is a watering hole to view wild antelope a short distance from the house - care should be taken not to let small children wander down to the watering hole unattended. Lounge: The lounge is sunken down from the rest of the house and set behind a large screen of African river reeds. The delux leather corner lounge suite is positioned in front of a JetMaster woodburning stove, keeping you warm and cosy in winter. The floor is covered in a large jute rug from India. The double aspect corner windows view out to the Indian Ocean to the South and to the watering hole and dune forest to the North. The lounge is equipped with a Samsung 50” UHD 4k TV, connected to WiFi for streaming DSTV and online movie channels such as Netflix. A Samsung Sound Bar is also installed below the TV. Dining Room: The dining room has a large custom made solid oak dining table which can seat 10 people. Opening out to the pool deck –the 6m wide folding aluminum doors can slide back to create an al fresco dining environment. From here you can spot whales and dolphins whilst sitting in bed - but you will need binoculars! Double hand basins are set on a solid oak, sand-weathered washstand. The walk-in shower enjoys panoramic views. The toilet room is enclosed. These rooms open out on to a balcony deck that views to the north over the dune forests and beyond. From this elevated position you can see a variety of birds and occasional bush buck quietly grazing in the forest opposite the house. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet, and hand basin mounted on a solid oak sand weathered washstand. The guest en-suite bedroom also provides optional door access to use the bath should guests staying in these two bedrooms wish to make use of this facility. Entry to the Kenton Eco Estate is controlled 24/7 via the gatehouse. The property has private security protection with a 24hr security response team and regular patrols to monitor the game and ensure safety and protection of its residents. The game reserve is protected by electric fencing. Services and cleaning: Umthi Lodge is serviced and cleaned every week day and sheets and towels are changed weekly – this is all inclusive in the rates. Energy and Water: The house has its own water storage facility with a capacity of 60,000 litres of rain water and in additional has main water supply as back-up. Electricity is included in the rates, and the house has a Tesla battery and solar system to ensure it is always has reliable energy supply so ESKOM power outages are no problem. Location: The lodge is near Kenton on Sea and Bushmans River, situated in the Eastern Cape along the R72 Sunshine Coast Tourist Route, between the cities of Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha and East London. The nearest airport is in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha with regular flights to and from all the major city centers of South Africa. Kenton is also situated only 15 minutes from Port Alfred with its well-equipped Rosehill shopping mall and only 30 minutes away from the settler city of Grahamstown, home to Rhodes University and the excellent private schools of St Andrews, DSG and Kingswood. Arts and crafts in the region are well represented every year at the famous National Arts Festival which is held in Grahamstown during winter. Nearby Cannon Rocks provides a beach/dune trail, and Bartholomew Diaz, the famous Portuguese navigator and discoverer of the Cape, erected a cross or padrao at Kwaaihoek on 12th March, 1488. All vehicles entering the estate will be required to submit their vehicle registration numbers in advance to the Pam Golding agent - no unauthorized vehicles are permitted at the estate. Any visitors in addition to the guests staying at the house must be cleared for security with the Pam Golding agent. No unannounced visitors are permitted on the estate for security reasons. Other things to note Umthi Lodge is serviced and cleaned every day (Monday to Friday, with Saturdays and Sundays on request). Sheets and towels are changed weekly – this is all inclusive in the rates. The house has its own water storage facility with a capacity of 60,000 liters of rain water and in additional has main water supply as back-up.
