The space Olympos, a settlement located in the Kumluca district between Kemer and Kaş, is 85 km away from the center of Antalya and 95 km away from Antalya Airport. The exact founding date of Olympos, which was one of the largest port cities of the Lycian civilization, is not known, but it has a history of 2200 years. In Greek mythology, Olympos means "the mountain of the gods," and it takes its name from here and from Tahtalı Mountain, an extension of the western branch of the Taurus Mountains known as Beydağları. Within the ancient city, although some of the remnants that have survived to the present day date back to the Lycians, we mainly encounter structures from the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. The ongoing archaeological excavations in the ancient city continue to unearth heritage that will be passed down to future generations.
