So excited - it’s a great honour to be chosen from all the hotels & homes in Wellington. Guest access There are 10 stairs to the front door - not suited to large heavy bags. Keep this in mind when packing. There are internal stairs from the bedroom to living level. Other things to note Be careful crossing from the sea path opposite, because you can’t see around the corner. Wait until it’s clear on left - Princess Beach end, then cross while looking to the corner. A tip for families - send dad across who can signal the all clear. If you travel with big heavy suitcases - there are 10 stairs to the front door. The ocean is opposite, so you may hear the sound of waves & The Esplanade is in front so there is traffic noise. Windows are double glazed to reduce this. Compared to a CBD hotel though - it’s not overly intrusive. Bring earplugs if it’s a concern. Families are welcome. Please actively supervise & teach children to treat the home with care - keeping windows hands free (they are 🥵 to clean). There is no stair gate. Advise if you need a portacot for baby. This is an older family home not a modern hotel. Dave still has ongoing renovations - the lounge upstairs isn’t completed - minor decorating to do. Houghton Bay is considered a safe area, though we have a camera (outside entrance) for guest safety & our security.
