Chez Lily and Chez Ravie are situated in the centre of a charming countryside setting, next to the village church (no bells!), where you will find our wonderful cottages. Located via a quiet access lane, with nearest neighbour 100 metres away! From the quiet lane, you turn into the cottages‘ private parking area, via a pretty garden, Chez Ravie is on the left and Chez Lily is on the right. The main reception entrance is in Chez Lily, the primary property, which opens into an impressive lounge/5th bedroom. The kitchen and 2nd toilet/shower room plus the utility room which is on the same ground floor level. In the lounge, there is also a large, fully sprung, 160cm bed settee (see photos). On this level, we can facilitate wheelchair access incorporating the ground floor toilet and bathroom. Ascending a unique spiral staircase to the first floor landing, opening onto a 33sqm bedroom with 160cm bed, with a separate walk-in wardrobe and en-suite shower/toilet. The bedroom also features a television with Sky free to view channels. There is room for a cot or single collapsible bed which can be provided (see photos). Back on the ground floor, the 35sqm lounge features a large flat screen TV, a satellite free view box and a Blu-Ray DVD and Amazon firestick (Molotov French channels are available via our Amazon account, but you require your own Amazon account and Netflix account to access other content), plus high speed fibre internet and WIFI in all rooms, around the pool and on the patio. The lounge also features a dining area with table and chairs, large sofa bed and matching armchair, plus occasional seating. Numerous storage cabinets and a wonderful log burning stove to snuggle up close, should you stay during the colder months! The lounge leads onto a fully fitted kitchen with ample storage and includes an oven, a separate microwave oven, induction hob, fridge, bread maker, kettle, espresso coffee machine, plus numerous other appliances such as dishwasher, washing machine and extra fridge and freezer in a separate utility area, with room to store suitcases, baby buggies, bikes etc. The entire ground floor benefits from underfloor heating, with the unique ability to cool in summer to condition the interior temperatures. A high speed fibre internet WiFi is free to use. The cottages have a 6x4m infinity style swimming pool, with a secluded relaxation, sunbathing and entertainment decked area and fantastic views over the valley. There is private off-road parking for two to five vehicles in the Chez Ravie (#6) vehicle parking area. Minimum 3 night lets, discount for lets above 1 week. Chez Ravie, with 3 double/triple bedrooms, provide the additional sleeping accommodation, plus a 2nd kitchenette/leisure room. If your booking is for more than 4 people, then the 2 cottages are rented together as one let, so you will not have neighbours and will not be sharing the pool with other clients. Both cottages are suitable for up to max 8-10 adults and 2-4 children (single beds and cots available), with 4-5 in Chez Lily, 6-7 in Chez Ravie, (see pictures of bedrooms 2-4 on the picture gallery). Chez Ravie bedrooms overlook the swimming pool area and countryside views, they are roomy and very comfortable. In some cases it is possible to add a child’s crib or single beds. There are also bathroom/shower/toilet facilities in Chez Ravie. Other things to note Through July and August, check-in and check-out dates are restricted to Saturdays only, with a minimum of six (6) adult/child guest bookings. The remaining months can be booked on any day of the week and any number of guests. We are currently experiencing a drought alert situation in the Charente region, please ensure you conserve water usage at all times and please respect safe usage of barbecues and disposal of cigarettes. Wildfires are not affecting our area of Charente, wildfires which are mainly under control are a minimum of 60-75 minutes south of our gites. We do have pets and chickens! We have 4 cats and 1 dog, who live with us and they are all very friendly! So please note, if you have a dog, it needs to be non aggressive and cat friendly. We also have a strict policy that dogs are to be controlled and leashed at all times and are not to be left in the property, unattended, at any time. Any dog excrement must be removed from the garden on a daily basis. We also have chickens, so any food scraps can be used up without the need to throw in the bin! Your children may like to feed them? 😊 We are close to the wonderful Atlantic beaches and towns that stretch the length of the west coast of France, closest being Royan reaching up to up to La Rochelle, Isle de Re and Isle de Oleron. To the south there are the wonderful beaches of Bordeaux, Arcachon and Biscarosse, all within reach for a wonderful day out. There are a number of excellent golf courses in the area, in Angouleme, Saintes, Cognac and Montbron, with photos on the picture gallery, they welcome green fees and normally have restaurants and bars at the club house. Other than golf courses, there are beautiful carp fishing lakes and fishing rivers (River Charente and River Dronne in Dordogne) close by, incorporating water sport leisure facilities, water parks in Angouleme and Jonzac, canoeing, boating and trecking, activity centres including zip-wire etc in Angouleme. We also have local river and lake beaches in Angouleme and Chateauneuf sur Charente, Aubeterre and Saint Aulaye on the river Dronne.
