Our cabin is on Muskie Island on Belle Taine. We added on/remodeled in 2020 giving our beloved cabin a slightly larger footprint while keeping the rustic charm we fell in love with. A level lot down to a sand beach, facing NW. Medhus (May-whos) means Middle House. Although you aren't quite in the middle of the Island we hope that during your stay you will create memories that are 'central' or attached to this special place. Just as many of ours have become over the years to family and friends. All areas of the grounds and cabin are available to you. You will not have access to the detached garage. I am not on site, but am available through the app or phone for communication. A beautiful lot, with tree borders on both sides. When sitting on the beach, you cannot see docks to your left or right. We have wonderful neighbors on both sides but you will still feel a sense of privacy. Enjoy a morning or evening walk or bike ride to the heartland trail. It is a short 1/2 mile walk to the trail on a fully paved road, covered by a canopy of trees. Walk across a quaint bridge that connects the island to the mainland, enjoying full views of both sides of the lake. Breathe in that sweet smell of pines, while hearing the loons call. This is a true north woods cabin getaway. Cabin is located near the end of a dead end road. Located 3rd from the end, the last Cabin on the right before the blacktop ends. There is a private drive way to the Medhus Cabin. You may park in front of the 2 stall garage-but will not have access to the garage. We are conveniently located close to Nevis, about 1.5 miles into town where you can enjoy a delicious BBQ meal at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill and then wander next door to Muskie Waters for a sweet treat of Ice Cream, coffee, or candy. There is a wonderful City Park for children to play on if you follow the bike trail into town. With 2 gas stations, and a quaint grocery store anything you may have forgotten can be picked up quickly with a trip into town. If you feel like venturing around further out, you will find desirable destinations in any direction you go. We are 15 min. from Walker, MN. 10 min. from Park Rapids, MN. and 7 minutes to Dorset. If you like Ice cream cones as big as your head, Dorset is a must stop at the Ice Cream Parlor:).
