Description

Hettie started her life as a 1960’s hay trailer, partially converted to embrace steam rallies in Dorset. This unique wee cosy space incorporates; double bed, vintage storage, handcrafted kitchen (complete with copper 1920’s stirrup hand up pump and basin), solar powered ambient lighting, beautiful timber larch linings, handcrafted fixtures and fittings sourced lovingly throughout the outstanding beautiful Devon. Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. The space Hettie features a comfortable double bed, a wood-burning stove, and a handcrafted kitchen, complete with a hob and discrete mini fridge. Throw open Hettie’s French double doors to step out onto a balcony that overlooks our beautiful paddock, as well as the river Otter and its abundant wildlife. We also have a sauna on site which can be booked. Guest access Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Blackdown Hills, our peaceful glamping site is located in a spectacular nature reserve, home to verdant landscapes and a colourful variety of local wildlife. There’s plenty of communal outdoor space to unwind with a glass of wine, a waterside hammock to recline in, and a rustic fire pit to light up your evenings. Guests also have access to the site’s compost loo, solar-powered shower, and communal kitchen during their stay. A new field kitchen has been added for summer 2025. Other things to note Our glamping site is off grid, so we recommend packing your wellies in case of unpredictable British weather. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay under the condition that they do not roam free without supervision or be left unattended. They must remain on leads while onsite, as we are surrounded by livestock. There is no wifi at The Sanctuary. However, chargers are available and there should be a mobile phone signal depending on your provider Beddings and dining utensils are provided. Guests must bring their own beach towels, please. We provide a small basket of logs/kindling on arrival, but more can be purchased.
