Brunelleschi by the Duomo - Charming Italy Tour

What about staying in a palace of the 17th century not farther than 100 steps (!!) from Florence Cathedral? Bufalini Apartments boast such an incredible location, close to the Duomo, the Accademia Gallery, and all the city's highlights, with shops, restaurants, and bars all around. In other words, you are right in the middle of the action, with everything at your fingertips!! The space Apartment 'Brunelleschi' is located on the third floor of the building, served by a modern lift. Reserved for non-smoking guests, it is cheerfully colored and consists of two living/dining rooms both with kitchen area, two bedrooms (one with a magnificent view of the Cathredral's dome) and two bathrooms, one with jacuzzi tub and the other one with shower-box, for a total area of about 100 square meters (apx 140 sqyds). Both kitchens are fully equipped with hob, sink, dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, toaster, kettle. It goes without saying that the unit is fully air-conditioned (hot and cold) and has a wash and drying machine and free wi-fi. The apartment sleeps up to nine people, four in the two bedrooms, four using the double sofa beds in the living rooms and one in the extra bed in one of the bedrooms. It is ideal for large families or small groups of friends. Guest access Bufalini Apartments are located at no. 11-13, Via Bufalini. Thanks to the central location, it is generally not necessary to use any public transport to visit the city and its monuments, as they are all within walking distance. Furthermore, Piazza San Marco is the terminus of the tram (line T2) going directly to the train station and the airport, while from Piazza Libertà many bus lines lead to Fiesole, Settignano and Piazzale Michelangelo. To reach the Apartments from Santa Maria Novella RAILWAY STATION, here are the options: - a taxi will cost around 20€ and is readily available at the station exit; - tram: exiting from platform no. 16, take line T2 towards 'San Marco Università' to the terminus - from here continue onto Via Ricasoli for two blocks and turn left onto Via Bufalini until no. 11 - it's literally a 5 minute walk; - walk all the way, if you don't have much luggage and feel energetic: leave the station by track no. 16, cross the tramway tracks and take Via Cerretani and Via Panzani until reaching the Cathedral Square, with the massive white Duomo in the middle: continue along the left-hand side of the church, turn left into Via de' Servi and after one block right into Via Bufalini – the residence is just a few steps down – altogether it will take about 15-20 minutes. From Florence AIRPORT the best way is to take the new T2 tramway until the last stop 'San Marco Università'; from here continue onto Via Ricasoli for two blocks and turn left onto Via Bufalini until no. 11 - it's literally a 5 minute walk; A taxi, on the other hand, will cost about 30-35 €uros, but of course will go right to the building doorstep. From Pisa or Bologna airport, instead, there are immediate coach connections to Florence Santa Maria Novella Station and then again follow the directions as outlined above. Coming by CAR, on the other hand, one has to note that the residence lies right in the middle of the traffic restricted area (ZTL); therefore, these are the options: – either park the car in one of the municipality parking lots around the city centre at the daily cost of €uros 15-20 per night and then walk to the Residence; – drive all the way to the Residence and then park the car in one of the private garages in the city center at the cost of about €uros 30-35; the private garage will take care of notifying your car to the municipality in order to get the entry permit. Since Florence is not very large and driving around the city centre is not very easy, we strongly recommend leaving the car in the garage and plan on just walking around or using the bus to reach Fiesole and Piazzale Michelangelo. The car, instead, comes in useful to make some tours, such as Chianti, Pisa, Vinci, San Gimignano, Siena, Arezzo. Other things to note The entire apartment is available to the guests only.
