Tarrs Yard is a beautifully restored early 18th century cottage, nestled in the valley between York and Malton. Ideal for walkers and nature lovers, the cottage is just a short drive from Castle Howard and close to the North Yorkshire Moors, Dalby Forest and the Yorkshire Coast. In a picturesque setting surrounded by uninterrupted views of the Howardian Hills and the Yorkshire Wolds, the cottage is perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the great outdoors. The space The cottage is situated in the heart of one of Ryedale's most picturesque villages, making it the perfect countryside hideaway to relax and unwind. 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 - Enter the cottage into an open plan lounge with York flagstone flooring, featuring a 3 seater sofa, a dining area with small table, 2 chairs and a cushioned window seat, with views overlooking the pretty village green. An arm chair is perfectly positioned by the bookshelf containing a selection of books, maps and games, and a log burner in the centre that creates a cosy atmosphere when lit. A basket of logs, kindling and eco firelighters are supplied for your first evening, or two. A 32” Smart HDTV with Netflix. Through to the kitchen which features an integrated oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine and Belfast sink. An 18th century cast iron range sits in its original place, creating lots of character and charm. From the kitchen there is a doorway to a little porch, situated at the back of the cottage which provides guests access to the bins and to hang up coats and store walking boots etc. 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 - Stairs in the kitchen lead up to the first floor. The master bedroom is situated at the front of the house featuring a king sized bed with a comfortable Simba hybrid mattress, bedside shelves, chest of drawers, peg rail with hangers and a view overlooking the green. The smaller bedroom situated to the back of the house features a single bed, bedside table and a peg rail with hangers. Both bedrooms have wall mirrors, jute rugs and the windows feature wooden shutters which ensures the blocking of light (although we have no street lights). The bathroom features a walk in shower with powerful waterfall shower head, a basin vanity cabinet, toilet, tall towel radiator to keep your towels toasty and a velux window. Please note, we do not have a bath. Luxury soap and shower gel is provided. 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 - Tarrs Yard is a charming mid terrace cottage. To the front of the property there is a block paved terrace which is directly opposite the quiet green. We have a 4 seater bistro table at the front for you to enjoy a morning coffee, al fresco dining, or a glass of wine on a warm evening. The terrace gets the sun for the majority of the day. In the winter, the table and chairs are stored away in the porch, but still available for use. To the rear of the cottage is a quiet courtyard which belongs to our neighbour behind - we only have right of way to access the bins and log store through the porch at the back of the cottage. Guest access You’ll have access to the whole cottage and to enjoy sitting out at the front on the terrace, which faces the little village green. Other things to note On street parking is available opposite the cottage, just in front of the village green. No permit is needed. Please note, driveways to the left and right of the cottage are owned by our neighbours, we do not have right of way to drive down or to park. You only have access on foot to the bins from the back door of the cottage. Please also note, unfortunately we do not allow pets at the cottage in order to ensure it remains suitable for all guests.
