Work and play! Located between forest and fields, in a quiet location minutes from downtown Oak Harbor with views of the Sound and the Cascades, the cottage makes a great base for exploring. There's a large desk and 200MbS+ WIFI that make a great home office away from home, too. Enjoy the eat-in kitchen, heated-floor bath & a cozy living area with HDTV, games and books. There's even a tennis/pickleball court! Hosts live on property (separate house) and are readily available. Views of the Cascades and close to downtown make this a sweet spot for a guest suite. Inside is a spacious living area with high-definition cable and subscription TV. There are also books, games and puzzles. There's a separate writing/working area with a large desk and high-speed WIFI for remote work as well as gaming. This cottage features an eat-in, stocked kitchen with a coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave, double-burner induction cook top, fridge, cookware and dinnerware, a variety of spices and teas. It's well-suited for dining in, whether you cook or take advantage of the plentiful take-out options nearby. There are also a number of restaurants in town for dining out. Outdoors, the patio--with fire pit--overlooks the garden and views of the Cascade mountains. There are numerous bicycling routes, walking paths and kayak launches nearby. Or, bring your racquets or paddles and play tennis or pickle ball on the tennis court on the property. Downtown is less than two miles away. Discover the yoga studios, art galleries, wine bar, tea shop and a variety of restaurants and parks. Large parking area directly abutting entry. We live in the house on the property, a few hundred feet away. We are available for questions or conversation as desired. The cottage is well separated from our house and is very private. Oak Harbor has lovely walks downtown along City Beach to the marina (add a few steps up to the library for the best view in town). There's lots to do and see nearby, too: - Deception Pass - Fort Ebey State Park - Fort Casey State Park - Historic Coupeville - Anacortes (on Fidalgo Island) - LaConnor - Ferry ride to Port Townsend (reservations for the ferry are recommended) on the Olympic Peninsula Whether strolling, bicycling or on a scenic drive, mountains, farmland and the sea surround. Breathe the clean, clear air, stop at a farm stand for flowers or fresh eggs, or hop on the free Island Transport bus that travels from the north island to the south. Not only beautiful, Oak Harbor is also safe. The National Council for Home Safety and Security named Oak Harbor as Washington's safest city. Please note regarding accessibility: there are no steps to get into the cottage, but there is a sliding door track to step over. Inside, there is one step between the two rooms. The bath has a step-in shower (two-inch edge to step over) and all bars (including soap disk and toilet paper holder) are grab bars. (I am ambulatory with some physical disability and I can maneuver in the space without a problem.)
