You can feel at ease knowing that help is always available in English or French, ensuring you have a delightful stay in Iwamura! The space Experience the beauty of our house, built in the Showa era, in the peaceful village of Iwamura. You will stay on the second floor, which features four traditional Japanese rooms, each separated by lovely sliding doors made of washi paper and a private toilet. You will sleep on comfortable, Japan-made cotton futons for a restful night’s sleep. We live on the ground floor, where you will find the kitchen and bathroom. You are welcome to use the fridge, microwave and tableware in the kitchen. You will be sharing the bathroom with us, but we will always make sure you have plenty of privacy. You can also enjoy the lovely garden and a parking space right in front of the house. While the house may not be well insulated, it stays cosy with air conditioning for summer and heating, including a heated table for winter. During colder months, we provide cosy coats (dōtera/hanten) and slippers for your comfort. Seasonal bedding settings ensure you have everything you need for a restful stay. Most home features are made in Japan or are transitioning to being made in Japan, reflecting the quality and craftsmanship of traditional Japanese design. Please note that it might be a bit noisy during strong winds, and since sunlight enters the rooms in the morning, light sleepers may want to bring eye covers. All tables in the house are low, and seating is on zabuton cushions, except for the chairs at the kitchen counter. Aside from a few old chairs, we currently do not have furniture to accommodate guests who cannot sit on the tatami floor, but we are preparing to make improvements. Luggage delivery service We can receive your luggage in advance and also help you send it to your next destination using Yamato Transport (Kuroneko). Please let us know in advance if you wish to use this service, and include your name and check-in date on the luggage label. Shipping fees are paid directly by the guest. Guest access Second Floor: This area is exclusively for guests and includes a living room, three bedrooms and a private toilet with sink. This sink has cold water only due to the traditional structure of the house. First Floor: This area is shared with us. It includes a kitchen, a washroom, and a lockable bath. If you wish to use the washing machine, please ask us. *Please note that in Japan, the first floor refers to what is commonly known as the ground floor. During your stay We are here to help make your stay enjoyable! We are primarily on-site, so please feel free to ask us directly for help. If we are unavailable, please don't hesitate to message us. Yuuki speaks only Japanese, while Anne can communicate in Japanese, English, and French. Other things to note 🏠 We are not a hotel but an individual house. 👶 On the 19th of March, we welcomed our daughter into the world. As this is our first time hosting guests in this situation, there may be some adjustments as we find a new rhythm. As our house is a traditional Japanese home with limited soundproofing, you may occasionally hear a baby crying, including at night. This new life will affect the shared area, and it may be temporarily messy. Also, the kitchen will be unavailable from 2 pm to 4 pm.
